Brief February Update

Hey everyone,

As is unfortunately typical for winter for me, I've gotten a lot less done than I would have liked this February. I had really hoped to have some chapters for you today, but it looks like that's not going to happen quite yet, so I'm pausing billing for a month as I try to get things together and get more caught up.

Right now my main goal, and the thing taking up real estate in my brain, is Teenage Dirtbag. I have around 2000 words of the next chapter and, roughly speaking... ch 28 is 100% figured out and just needs to be written, ch 29 I know the plot and need to think through the exact order/wording in the back half, and ch 30-31 I know overall what happens but haven't fully plotted each beat. And that's, like... it! Granted, my single chapters tend to become two chapters as I write them, but: the end is in sight,. Which is part of what's so frustrating. Haha.

I do have some concerns about how well the story all holds together given the long period of time I've been writing it across... but I'm trying to not think about that right now, and instead just planning on reviewing/revising the whole shebang once I've gotten all the words out. At least if I have the energy--it's admittedly sort of daunting. I think I will have some more specific questions once I have the next 2 chapters together, concerning whether everything makes sense in terms of narrative pacing and flow. So once we reach that point, if any of you would like to provide some feedback, I'd appreciate it!

Once again, thank you all for your support and patience. I'm not the fastest writer, but I like to think that what you get is worth waiting for. :) Your enthusiasm and support is really what keeps me going, and I appreciate it so much!

Best,
Rooibos

chiming in as another voice for both "i'll happily read it however long it takes" and "the work so far is remarkably consistent with itself, excluding maybe the pudding retcon but that's life! the story was better off for it anyway"

take all the time you need!! speaking as someone who's read it through a couple times I think it holds up pretty well as a single piece

I have also read it a few times and it is very consistent. Excited for more in the future of course and just how it will all wrap up. Absolutely take your time, whenever it's ready it's ready.

I've re-read it a few times, and it holds up really well as a cohesive whole. It's one of my favorite stories, and while I eagerly await another chapter I know how it can be to get it out. Take the time you need.

Waiting for you to come back whenever! Take all the time you need, I know all too well this kind of feeling.

Thank you! That's a bit of a relief. I think there still might be a couple of minor things that I worked out later on in writing that I'd like to foreshadow a bit better, but I'm glad that it doesn't feel entirely disjoint. :)

I'll be excited to read it whenever it's done. (And, having just got done reading the whole story, start to current, I think it hangs together extremely well, with consistent tone and character. It's great.)
