Added 2018-04-30 04:00:00 +0000 UTCI usually make the paid post a preview, but I figured I'll change it to just a regular art post and save the preview post for the day that rewards go out.
Here's Edgar and Tui from Mer!AU while they were expecting wee baby Bak. Male merfolk are usually the ones who carry offspring. Seal merfolk/selkies like to bask in the sun belly up when they're expecting. Also when they're not, but especially, and VERY OFTEN, when they're expecting.
I think I may have forgotten to include the height/size ref I made for them in the February bundle and I don't think Tui's real size is too apparent in this color piece, so behold Edgar and his big wife Tui (pls notice her strong arms):
Edgar is by no means short/small, Tui is just BIG cause she's a great white. They're usually seen as an odd couple by other merfolk since seal merfolk and great white shark merfolk don't normally get along. I thought about making her size more in line with an actual great white shark at first, but decided this was big enough. For Edgar's safety lmao.
Bak had big hopes of growing as big as his mom, but ended up being smaller than his dad. Some things just HAVE to carry over from canon in AUs.
