Switching to Monthly + Thoughts on Patreon's Fee change
Added 2017-12-10 01:35:53 +0000 UTC(TL;DR: I'm Switching to Monthly. since I already DO my stuff on a monthly schedule, there should be no changes for you guys. :) )
Hey all,
It's been just about 3 years since you guys have started this journey with us, and I'm totally glad that you've stuck by us for so long. Can ya believe this all started with a dinky little black and white comic about a kobold getting railed by a dragon man? :)
Anyway, I've seen Patreon go through plenty of changes during that time, and I think it's about time I switched a few things up as well.
From January, instead of "per comic" (which I started with because I was doing one comic every TWO months!), I'm going to be switching to the standard Monthly setup, with Up-front charging for new patrons. (There's been another uptick in patron fraud, as well.. it's annoying, but this should fix it once and for all!)
As I'm already putting out one comic a month, The month-to-month operations here (and stuff on your end!) shouldn't change at all. :)
Now, as for this recent fee charging thing....
Honestly, I'm a little ambivalent about it. I get why a lot of creators are up in arms about Patreon charging transaction fees to pledgers, but i'm also aware that that amount is going to be less than $0.50 for most pledgers (since the large majority of pledges system wide are $1.00 and $5 tiers).
I *would* honestly prefer it if Patreon let the pledger choose whether or not to pay the extra fee or have the fee taken out of the pledge. Something to think about, Higher-ups!
Anyway, thanks for reading my silly little Ramble here.
