The next update

Will be about Varanar, Night Three, as decided by the previous poll. Varanar, Night Three will be a relatively interesting scene, involving a group of characters the kobold may or may not have previously interacted with. The first encounter with the group (or a lack thereof) will largely dictate the terms of this scene, although there will be a few parts which are interaction-independent, and a lot still depends on the player's choice.

One particularly expansive part of the scene, will be tied to a choice made long, long ago. This means that, for some people, it will be a chore to get to. Why is this? Because it will lead to one of the sparse, few happy moments the game has to offer. And, in my opinion, these small shreds of happiness should be well hidden, to ensure that you will only find joy after experiencing the bleak dreadfulness that is an ordinary kobold's life.

In other games, you grind for money, for gold, or for experience. In Kobold Adventure, you strive to discover a means to make Moe suffer less. This means experimenting, and discovering routes that you had not thought of taking before. Or you could always cheat, and use aMap. Whatever suits you best.

The point is, that most of the feel good stuff is purposefully hidden behind requirements which may not always be very apparent, at first. Kobolds, in this world, simply do not experience a lot of wholehearty, deep-rooted joy. Sure, they might get some superficial buzz when getting drunk or when doing something exhilarating, but to find true happiness is not an easy task for a kobold. And that feeling, I am trying to convey through the choice system, with varying results.

Anyway, despite having slept somewhat decently for the first time in almost a week, I still feel very, very sleepy, so I'm sorry if anything I'm saying comes across as weird. I'm going to get some more sleep tonight, and after that, development on the new scene will begin. I already have a decent idea on some of the concepts I want to include, but I still need to pour these concepts into a solid scene tree. Then, I need to scaffold that tree, and finally, I'll write a solid intro, along with one or two of the easier routes.

The next update will not yet be a lot of content, but there should be some good stuff in the one after that. This first part will be more technical, but I hope you guys can bear with me until we get to the bits I'm really excited for. Trust me when I say that, I have some fucking great plans in store for Night Three. Let's hope they'll end up as good as I'm imagining them in my head.

Anyway, I'm sleepy. I'm going to rest a bit more, then start planning, get some more sleep in, and get into proper development tomorrow. Thank you all for your continued interest in Kobold Adventure. Status update somewhere further along this week. I'll see you all then! Tahtah!
