The next update
Added 2018-10-09 08:19:34 +0000 UTCNow that both polls are over, work on Varanar, Afternoon Three, Ruby, Mean will begin tomorrow! I expect this shouldn't take more than a week, but with all the permutations it might end up taking a bit longer than that. I hope not, though.
Anyway, what's going on in terms of Kobold Adventure besides me? Several things, actually! The rest of this post will shed a light on various aspects of the game that don't get discussed very often.
A bunch of scenes are being guestwritten by a few capable, and inspired members of the community, who may be slaving away to bring us more content this very instant!
Guestwritten content helps the game progress a lot. While I still rewrite everything before it makes it into Kobold Adventure, to make sure it fits the writing style in place, rewriting content allows me to almost double my average wordcount. That means twice the content in similar timeframes, and the guestwriters get to see their idea come to life within the game! Everyone wins.
Sadly, it's not all rainbows and sunshine. Sometimes, life simply gets in the way of writing for a kobold torture simulator. Many guestwriters end up quitting before the job is done. And I understand completely! The important thing is that they tried. It's the thought that counts!
One of these guestwriters that has notified me they will no longer be able to continue working on their scene, just so happens to be the person that was creating the next part of the deepwoods. As such, I must now step up to the plate, and fill this void myself. In the content polls after the next update, you will find that the deepwoods are back on the menu!
Another thing that is being made for Kobold Adventure is guest art. Sneaky's a busy person, and he can't possibly hope to portray every single scene I write all by himself! As such, there are a bunch of guest artists which have graciously offered their services to depict various different scenes. More news on this, as they get closer to finishing their works.
On the topic of art: once Seki's character sheet is finished (which should not take much longer), Sneaky will get back to working on the colored versions of the forest bandit encounter. After those are done, he'll get back to drawing Fenrir, or the next character sheet! Whichever comes first.
Music is something I know absolutely nothing about. Thank goodness one musician in particular, Cello, has taken to making perfect background tracks for various scenes! If you have audio enabled, you've probably heard his latest work in action in the Farmer's Maid ending. I hope the new mute button helps more people discover the wonderful audio in Kobold Adventure.
And that's about it! As you can see, there are far more people than just me working on the game. I doubt anyone else is crazy enough to dedicate their entire life to it, but as long as I get a guestwritten scene, a piece of art or an ear-gasmic musical track every now and again, you can color me a happy camper.
On that note, we'll end this update post. Thank you all for your continued interest in Kobold Adventure. If you wish to contribute to the game yourself, feel free to join the Discord! Link on the title page of the game! There's also a contribute page, if you're interested. See you all later this week, for another lecture on the Kobold Theory.
