Today, I'm excited to share a unique project with you - a mod I initially commissioned some time ago. It's a rendition of the Batmobile as seen in the 2008 film, "The Dark Knight."
While this creation never quite met my expectations, it's a project I hold close. The first attempt at getting this project off the ground did not turn out as planned, so I started afresh with a new modding team, and after a few updates the project had slowly fizzled out. So it's not completely finished, but I wanted to share it with you in its current state for Day 9 of the advent Calander.
A little backstory on its development: my vision was to create two versions of this car. One, a true-to-life replica of the film's prop vehicle, complete with a GM V8 engine. The other, a more fantastical interpretation with jet engines and turbine power, as you'd expect in the movie's universe.
The initial version turned out to be quite hefty and didn't pack enough punch, making it not very fun to drive. The project never progresses far enough for work on the second version physics to begin. This led me to experiment with car physics myself for the first time - and let's just say, I think I'll stick to track creation!
Interestingly, while adding more power I had added a bit of a bug… the car now has an unusually high top speed and keeps accelerating in higher gears, I guess this could be interpreted as thanks to its jet engine? What started as a bug has become a key feature of this mod!
So, what we have is a hefty vehicle with the potential for insane speeds. It boasts functional (at least visually) air brakes, headlights, and particle emitters for the jet engine. The interior cameras are shown on screens inside the cockpit which is cool.
I have also created a few skins to represent Different batman villains. Just to spice things up for multi-car races!
Bane - The desert camo livery shown in 2012 Dark Knight Rises
Mr Freeze - A blue icy design
Joker - A Chatoic mix of green and purple
Harley Quinn - Red White and Black
Riddler - Green with Purple Question Marks
Two Face - Black and White 50/50 Split
There's also two black versions, one that's in quite good shape, nice clean body work, another thats all kinds of dirty and scratched up.
This mod is quite different from my usual work. I hope you find it intriguing, even if it is just for a lap or two!
