Updates to the Track Catalogue: A New Organizational System and Feedback Request

Hello everyone!

Coming up shortly I’ve got the 2023 re-release of Cannock Chase, an old favourite back from when I was just starting out (see pictures attached to this post for a sneaky preview of that one)

But for now, a few words. As the sole creator behind Nukedrop Mods I have been constantly amazed and humbled by the support you have given me here on Patreon. Thanks to you, I have managed to turn my passion for mod creation into a full-time Job. But as I have produced more work, the task of organizing and cataloguing it all has become quite challenging.

Until now, my Patreon feed has been my go-to resource for all my tracks. But, as the number of my creations has grown, this method of organization has turned into quite a mess. Recognizing the need for a cleaner, more efficient way to catalogue and access the mods, I have made the decision to introduce a significant change a new, more organized home for all my work – a publicly available Google Spreadsheet containing, at the moment at least, 58 tracks!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gD5G2Uy2oMkgAfeAgAbotpuQ6HexltpLytEnkNvoZkI/edit?usp=sharing

It's also got handy filters for you to sort by Location, Circuit Type, Name etc... I think it might be best to have a date filter as well at some point.

This comprehensive inventory includes almost every mod I have ever created and posted on Patreon, from my newest creations all the way back to my earliest endeavours. I believe this will make it much easier for you to browse and find exactly what you are looking for. So, thanks again to the few members of the community who have been asking for something like this, and finally giving me the motivation to sort it out.

However, not all mods have found a place on the spreadsheet. Any mods not listed there have been deliberately omitted, meaning I have decided to fully abandon them. This decision was not easy, but it allows me to better focus on the newer mods that are of a much higher quality. If there is anything missing that you will be sad to see gone, please leave a comment and I’ll consider if it’s worth brining back.

The mods that have been left off the list are mainly the fictional designs from around three years ago. Since then, my skills have significantly improved, and I have gained a much deeper understanding of what truly makes a good track layout. It's a bit sad to let go of those early tracks, but to be honest, I'm convinced that any new designs I work on will surpass what those older ones had to offer.

As I have been going through all my tracks to put together the spreadsheet, it's clear that my creative process has evolved quite a bit over time. You may have noticed that my more recent mods tend to be recreations of real tracks, straying a bit from the unique, imaginative ones I used to make.

Let's talk about this shift for a moment. Making realistic tracks provides an interesting challenge, and I really enjoy the process of recreating them faithfully. However, I appreciate that some of you might miss the originality of my earlier works – the unique tracks that came straight from my imagination.

My aim is to find a balance that encompasses both aspects of my creativity, and more importantly, that you, my supporters, find engaging. I am keen to understand how you feel about the current mix of real-world and original tracks. Would you be interested in seeing more of those original tracks making a return? And for those of you who are here for the real-world recreations, would you consider leaving if the balance shifted more towards the original designs?

Unfortunately, maintaining subscriber retention is now a critical part of my role, as my livelihood depends on the support, I receive on Patreon. It is important that I strike this balance correctly to keep this creative journey going. I genuinely value your feedback and look forward to hearing from you. As always, your thoughts and opinions are incredibly valuable to me. Your feedback shapes the work I do and the direction I take. So, please do not hesitate to share your thoughts on this. Remember, this is not just about me creating mods; it's about sharing the passion for driving things fast.

I am excited about this next chapter in our journey, and I look forward to continuing to innovate, create, and evolve with all of you. Thank you again for your ongoing support, and here is to many more thrilling mods!

Thanks again,
Tyrone

My main use case is practicing for real life driving/racing. From that perspective I'll add a +1 to real regional tracks. I totally understand that's not the majority use case though.

I'm just going to add a +1 for cdrseabee and Paintbox's comments above - absolutely love the vintage tracks and my car list for AC is specifically <1975 content. Real or 'believable' fictional would work for me, as there were lots of regional small venues used for club meets back then too. If you were interested in doing vintage versions of any of the following, let me know if you'd want any reference materials for them: - Sebring 1967-1971 (your '66 one, but bypassing the Warehouse Straight and adding a new bridge) - Daytona - Brands Hatch - Reims - Oulton Park - Fuji (the vintage Fuji out there is an old GPL convert) - Aspern ('simple' airfield track, held some really prestigious races in the 60s - https://www.motorsportimages.com/photos/?race_type_id=&search=aspern) Sure you could get some donations or HSS support for any of the above if you wanted too ;) Or vintage versions of Mallory or Willow Springs that you've already done modern ones of? If you're more interested in doing some fictional ones (and you should definitely do what interests you), how about something like DoubleZero was doing with his 'Mount Tempus' project: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=doublezero+mount+tempus could work for Cannock Chase? For example, you could narrow the tarmac 20%, remove the catch fences, kerbing, direction signs and modern ad hoardings/lights for 70s and remove the chicanes from the layout and armco barriers for the 60s (and add a bit more 'clutter').
