Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update on the progress with Spring Mountain. Sadly, not quite ready for a download link – but definitely close! I expect to have it ready in a week or so. Then while that’s being tested, I will continue with the Sebring changes and have that ready shortly after.
When I’m doing small changes / tweaks to a track that is mostly made, it is a lot easier to get frequent updates out. Whereas with Spring Mountain, so much work needs to be done ‘up front’ before it’s ready to be tested, as there’s just so much road, millions of kerbs etc… Adding all of those is a lot more time intensive than simply making a change once we’ve got some feedback.
Hopefully this explains why there’s been a bit of a drought in content, Once the first version of Spring Mountain is out, Updates on existing tracks will be much more frequent.
Thanks to everybody who took part in the poll.
The Mansell Layout won the poll, so that layout will be included in the first release.
As Mansell doesn’t use any of the track for the East course that layout will also be included.
Every single part of the track will be driveable, so you can go off and explore in the ‘open’ layout – which will have to suffice until the other layouts are added in a future update… gosh there is so many!
I’ve developed a new system for generating the kerbs on the track, so they’ve got more accurate start and end points now. I aim to go back and retrofit this system into Thunderhill before too long.
I’ve also taken into consideration the performance issues some people have with my tracks, all of the shrubs, bushes and dry grass plants are able to be removed from the track by the user. Detailed instructions will follow with the initial release, but to keep things simple it’s basically a ‘modular’ system and you’ll be able to turn on and off sections of the 3D model if you require a performance gain. It’s my first real try at doing something like this, on such a complicated layout nonetheless so there’s lots going on here and I think it will be one of my best tracks so far.
Quick question for those that have made it this far, would you prefer more frequent updates like this, with screenshots and more details, but sometimes without an updated download, or should I keep it as it is and have the less frequent updates, but with each Patreon post being substantial with a download link.
Take a look at the screenshots, and I look forward to sharing this amazing track with you all soon.
