Behind The Scenes: Gaming Lounge

After quite a long streak of inspiration, I found myself again in a bit uninspired place. Not that I wouldn't have things to try out, or empty idea lists. It's just one of those week, where you go through your notes and all feels a bit "meh".

In times like that, the best thing you can do is to look back and think about all the work you have already done. Even better, browse through some of it and you'll be surprised how many pieces you forgot about. That puts the creative challenge you have in front of you in a different perspective.

It lowers the stakes. Maybe you won't create your next big thing this week, but it will get you through. And you'll stay consistent and ready to do the next piece again.

And from a long term point of view, that's more important than one viral piece. And the best thing about that "devil may care" attitude is, you are freed from the pressure and can comfortably enjoy some art and craft :)

The most comfortable thing for me to do, is to create something I'm already good at. Something I feel confident about without any need to go and research new techniques, or learn new software.

I already created several room designs and even few gaming rooms. And yet, there still exists an infinite number of versions I haven't tried yet. Different layouts, different styles, setups. And this applies to a lot of works I've done. Yes I have done barbecue scene, but I bet there's enough variations to that theme to build a separate Instagram account.

So, what can I change this time? I already made a PC setup, let's focus on consoles. I'm a PS fan, let's instead use the Xbox! You can see LED strips and purple colors everywhere, let's keep this clean, modern and cozy. ( But LED powered version coming soon for sure :D)

I've searched for some (p)interesting furniture and layout ideas and got really excited about the snack-friendly sofa designs, with integrated drink holders, chargers, even speakers!

Since I wanted to go for a cozy design, I needed to take the scale into account. So the first thing I sketched in, was a size of the sofa in respect to the room. That defined the proportions and feeling of the space.

I added some modern furniture pieces, that matched the nature of the sofa and the rest was mostly about filling in the details and accessories, like hi-fi set and console controllers.

I thought about adding some collectibles too, but I decided to keep the place minimalistic.
