I hope you guys had a great weekend! I watched a bunch of Lightbox and am still trying to get through some panels that are still available for rewatch!

I picked up MaxU’s “retro brush pack” for procreate during Lightbox and am trying it out here and there. (Not sponsored btw. 😂).

So far I’m liking the brushes but need to try them out for more then just sketching. They are kind of a mix between watercolor, pastel, and gouache type effects.

There are also a couple interesting xerox type brushes that are trying to mimic the linework in old animations like 101 Dalmatians. That’s what I used for the sleeping orange cat. It’s kind of unforgiving compared to my typical pencil linework but I think the results are interesting. The actual brushes are: Photocopy sketch, and photocopy inker

You’ll notice the sketch of the hiker and her cat are done with a really “pencil-like” brush and that’s also from the new pack. It’s the Gesture Sketch flat brush and it feels a lot like Conte (which is what I used to use in university for a lot of figure and gesture drawing classes).

The 3rd sketch in here is something I tossed in. This is Cardan from The Cruel Prince and it is supposed to be a companion portrait to “Fairy Ball”. I just haven’t gotten to finishing it yet. But I thought I would at least show you where the sketch is at!
