She laughs too loud, and before you know it there's tears in the corner of her eye.
She smiles wide but there is a profound sadness in the pout of her bottom lip.
She runs too far, so far she can almost never make her way back so if she ever crosses you, you know you're never getting her back.
She forgets who she is and then makes it up as she goes along.
She buys white dresses but you'd never know because they're painted red with accidents and life by the time she steps out in them.
She brushes her hair all days long but they only look wild and unruly, except when she wakes up in the morning and then they look exactly like they're meant to; loose curls for a loose cannon.
She's mad.
She'll stab you in the heart because she wanted your attention.
She'll break everything you love because she couldn't bear you playing with toys that aren't her.
She'll hide under the bed because she's scared but she'll make you sleep under it because she's bored.
She'll throw a wedding party for kittens while she's internally stabbing all the dead parts of herself to make sure they don't accidentally come alive.
She's mad.
She'll run away in the middle of the night and try to drown herself in four feet of water.
She'll cry wolf when she sees a lion.
She'll dance naked in the cold and light a fire when it's sweltering.
She'll celebrate Christmas in August and then again on her birthday.
She's mad.
But she glitters and sparkles.
She says out loud the really simple childlike things we stop saying when we get older.
Like I love you.
I need you.
I think you should give me more attention.
She can just say those things; things that become harder and harder to say as we get older.
She can make you believe.
That there's hope.
And sunshine.
Honey tastes sweeter in her mouth.
The world tastes more real bouncing off her skin.
Small.
But she's larger than life.
Her giggles are louder than the death knell.
And somehow more real too.
She's more real than death.
Truly, she's mad.
But she's magic.
