It’s supposed be like 12 ft high or something. It’s supposed to kinda look like a pile of darkness. I don’t think George particularly cared if it looked like a throne.

Either they just let her die with the baby inside her, or they take a chance that they can save the baby by cutting it out. But either way, she's dead. The whole scene is a reflection of the joust; remember Aemma told Rhaenera that the childbed is their battlefield. This was her final battle. It's reflected in the suggestive shape of the joust ground. The happiness of getting an heir only to lose him is reflected in Daemon thinking he'd won only to have Cristen knock him down. Also, Daemon and Viserys are both grieving her loss, she was not just their queen and Viserys' wife, she was their cousin. Targaryen incest stuff.
