You're certainly likely to have a different opinion on the last 2 seasons having watched the show in a year or so rather than 8 years

2024-06-25 09:50:15 +0000 UTCI actually enjoy season 7 and 8. I think the problem was the pacing. What would take 4 episodes in earlier seasons was somehow happening from one scene to the next--some of it to a ridiculous degree. So it felt rushed and a little absurd. I think some of the dialogue was less literary, too, so it lost a little of its fantasy feel. For me, the ending was out of nowhere and overly indulgent and it felt that way largely because of how quickly the events of the last two seasons unfolded. And, with what was happening in the world when it originally aired, I think some of it was a little triggering for some people (myself included). Obviously, that sort of historical context doesn't impact people watching it now, though, so you may have a very different impression of everything. But generally, I found the last two seasons mostly satisfying. I don't think they all deserve the bad rap they get. One or two major plot elements are seriously flawed, in my opinion, but I think people nit-pick too many of the story decisions in hindsight. A lot of the talk feels like bitterness from the emotional dissatisfaction people felt when it all aired. Which is fair, if not entirely objective. haha. I hope you'll take everyone's opinions with a grain of salt and just enjoy it as much as you can open-mindedly.
