GRRM designed this series around breaking tropes and giving characters real consequences based on their actions. Name one time irl an outside force has been able to come in, take out a regime with violence, upturn an entire culture, economy, and infrastructure, and impose a long-term, successful reform government that survives immediate withdrawal of those outside forces. I certainly can’t name one. “We didn’t execute enough people and that’s why the revolution failed” isn’t grounded in realism imo. Dany’s choice to kill the masters would feel like moral catharsis but Jorah is saying that it isn’t wise. The world is more complicated than that. And what actions reward main characters in this story: dramatic displays of absolutist morality or nuanced, disciplined strategy? That's my opinion based on events up to this point only.

I bet you're a blast at parties. Look at the majority of conflict in the past. 🙄

“Straight white males” haha you’re showing your ignorance. I love your content but had to speak up on that one. Who’s to blame for the problems in North Korea or the Middle East or Africa or china or south America? Straight white males i assume.

@25:34 I still go back and forth with their different viewpoints during this debate, and I don't 100% agree or disagree with either of them. Dany's entire goal has been to break the wheel and not continue the same toxic system. In her mind, the only people perpetuating this system are people like those in power in Yunkai, Mereen, etc., so if she kills them all, there isn't anyone left to continue being slavers and the like. In Jorah's mind, his definition of breaking the wheel seems to be ending the cycle of violence altogether while also not really presenting a realistic means of accomplishing that goal. To his credit, it has also been said time and time again in the show Targaryen incest has led to insanity and violent tendencies, and we know it's true because of the Mad King, Dany's father. They both want the same thing, but have different definitions of it. I fully admit I would want to go Dany's route and kill all the slavers, but giving into that could easily spiral into much worse. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
