Im bout to go on a rant: I absolutely hated Gale when he called Peeta a coward. Saying "i would never say that". really sir🤦🏽‍♀so youre saying that if they said "unless you say this in front of the camera, we are going to kill your entire family and bomb your district (which is what actually what they said to Peeta)" youre telling me that you would still refuse. I highly doubt that😤. also, he is only saying that cuz its Peeta, I KNOW IT And i dont understand why Peeta's combat ability affects so many peoples opinions of him. He is strong, he just doesnt really know how to use that strength, and thats fine, not everyone does. And besides, Katniss may protect Peeta physically, but Peeta protects Katniss emotionally. That's why even though Gale is right there, who is Katniss dreaming about to keep her calm: Peeta. What is going on!!!! (I refuse to say justice for Gale hehe) Okay I was gonna just leave commenting but you asked a few times about Gale hatred. He’s not actually the worst because clearly he saved a lot of people and helped Katniss’s family. He becomes worse as time goes on in my opinion so I’ll have more to say when you’ve done the last one BUT it’s mainly just because I find him immature and selfish, in addition to things to come. He’s meant to be older than Katniss and he just acts like a wee boy. Like he holds a grudge against Katniss for “loving” Peeta out of survival, if you truly loved her in a selfless way you’d just be glad she was alive and wouldn’t make snide comments all the time. It’s also very clear in Catching Fire book (the scene is in the movie but it’s not as clear) that Gale would have run away with Katniss until he realises she wants to bring their families and Peeta. Which is just pathetic to me, you’d be willing to risk your families lives because you don’t want Peeta coming? When anything happens to Katniss or with Peeta, all Gale is thinking about is himself and how it affects his chances to get with Katniss. Get a grip!! Like being so self pitying because she kissed you and you being in pain is the only way you get her attention…. Like… girl please this child is traumatised!!! And you are throwing your dummy out the pram cos she doesn’t know what she wants? What do you expect? It’s just so immature and selfish. Lastly, he actually thinks he’s beyond torture because he’s a big strong man and his mind is an impenetrable fortress. Yeah okay Gale!! That’s not how torture works!! I think Katniss and him are maybe too similar in the stubborn and angry category to work. You don’t wanna go out with yourself!! I actually didn’t hate him at first so I totally get your perspective but it’s through many rewatches and rereads that he gets on your nerves.

All done so what is going on? For starters, keep in mind that Coin is a politician! Plutarch Heavensbee mentions after her first speech that she could do with a little more sugar on her communication... so that's what she does and Plutarch writes her speeches at the end of the movie (that's why he recites it). Also this movie was dedicated to the actor playing Plutarch, because he passed away during filming. I loved this movie,I love watching the politics and communication of it all. Moves and counter moves. Psychology and relationships are great as well. I love the cinematography of the attack on the dam with Katniss singing the song, brilliantly done. Won't say anything else in fear of spoiling things so see you next time! And yes, I'd be glad for The Maze Runner because I won't watch GoT so it'll give me something to look forward to.

Let me just say this before I keep going. Gale went on the rescue mission for Katniss, but also for himself because he knew that Katniss would never be with him as long as Peeta was out there. He didn't stand a chance when she was so worried about Peeta.

I just think it's they don't belong together they give you a slight point towards that when they are hunting above ground for the first time... Whereas katness would not kill the animal Because it doesn't know what it means to be hunted. It's not afraid of hunters.. it doesn't know to be scared.. Gale's response is it's ALMOST not fair.. Gale has a more go getter Personality type towards war Where katness doesn't want anything to do with it.. You see it again when Peeta makes A statement and gale immediately wants to respond and Katness says Since when does we become you and Coin? Katniss doesn't want to be a huge participant in war. Gale is all for it...

PS: the "dream" about Peeta was a flashback from the second movie it was on the train in the beginning of the Victour Tour before they went back to the arena. And again with Gale you have to wait until the last movie to compare Peeta and Gale. There will come more information.

I really love this film and I think it's underappreciated out of the series. Idk. I just like that it so plainly focuses on the politics and propaganda required for wars. All while centering katniss and her feelings about various things/people. The imagery with the districts rebelling is so moving. Overall just a great film
