i understand and respect all opinions but y'all putting joel as the right one in the story and marlene as the villain, i'm sorry but you're not seeing the full picture, you're just looking at joel's side out of attachment to his character (btw joel is my favorite character, the last of us is my favorite game/story). but we need to remember to see the game as a whole, all perspectives. the doctor had a formula that would most likely work, did you guys forget that he is a doctor? and saying that "there's no cure" because the guys from the first episode in 1900 and something said, doesn't prove anything, and the fireflies always kept looking for a way to help the world. they are not saints, they are not good guys, they are human. this story is not about heroes and villains, but no one can deny that joel committed genocide in that hospital, all to save one person (i understand why), but even worse is the selfishness of lying to ellie twice about what happened, because he knows that if he tells her the truth, he will lose her. the fireflies were wrong by not giving a choice to ellie, but i also understand the thinking behind it, what if she said no? were going to let the cure for humanity go away. put it on the scale, a life for an entire humanity that exists and that can come to exist, (no more, thanks to joel). everyone there has their reasons but everyone knows that ellie wants to be the cure, the pressure she feels of seeing people she cares about dying from infected bites: riley, sam, tess... it all weighs on her , and (SPOILER).... anyone who played the second game knows very well what she wanted. but in the end this is the last of us, this is the beauty of it, to see and understand all sides because this a complex story, It's not your typical good guy versus bad guy story. it's about flawed humans and also their own way of seeing this broken world. but our actions have consequences and we can love our characters without putting them on a pedestal.
