If I remember correctly, in the game, those big massive infected ones are called bloaters! Big hard bastards for sure. In the game they also rip parts of there body off of themselves (the big fungus blobby bits) and throw them at you and they explode! Crazy stuff

sam not attacking ellie makes sense with the lore of how infected work. in the game recently infected people won’t attack you if they don’t see or hear you, and are often just standing still staring down at the ground holding their head

Also to add to that, I imagine as you're first turning you're mostly kinda confused and lost in your head for a while especially since he has less awareness and stimuli being deaf, so that's why he was just kinda sitting there. But as soon as she touched him and he realized she was there like you said, the instinct took over and he attacked then.

The connection Joel and Ellie had during the scene when the infected rose up was amazing. The eye contact they made to signal her moves so he could make a path and protect her…..the panic, shaking and little whimper Joel made when the little clicker climbed into the truck because Joel couldn’t stop it from getting in…fantastic acting from Bella and Pedro! 👏🏼 👏🏼

the little board that sam has is called a magic slate. they came out in the 50s. you can write on them then lift the page to make it disappear! and he didn't attack ellie because he didn't know she was there! remember, he's deaf. he only realized that she was there when she went up and touched his shoulder.
