Fun fact about the cordyceps infection: it can be divided in 4 different stages. The first stage is the “runner” and it lasts for the first two weeks after the fungus has taken over the body: runners (the ones you saw in the first episode) are fast, they can still see and the person that was once in control of the body is still somewhat conscious, trapped in a body they can’t control. From two weeks to one year after, the infected are known as “stalkers”: in this stage the infected lose their consciousness completely. Because the fungus has started to grow through their eyes and face, stalkers begin to rely on ambush hunting, rather than chasing their prey. Also, because the fungus begins to override some muscle contraction controls, that keep our body safe, they gradually become stronger than a human, the more time passes. After a year has passed the infected turn into “clickers” (the ones in the museum): they’re a lot stronger than normal people, but they’re completely blind, as the fungus has broken through their skull and covered their face entirely. In exchange for this inconvenience, the facial fungus provides a resonance surface, that allows the infected to echolocate their prey through clicking. The fourth and final stage consists of “bloaters”, which occur 5-10 years after the infection (if they manage to survive that long): the fungus has covered the entirety of their body, providing them with a fungal “armor” that makes them quite resistant. Bloaters are terribly strong and they can easily rip someone’s limb apart as if it’s nothing, but their facial fungus has deformed too much by then and they can’t echolocate as well as clickers

also i think people get mad at the zombie thing cus they’re not dead technically like zombies are but that doesn’t really matter. there’s different names for different stages so recently infected are runners then there are stalkers that can see a little then there’s the clickers we saw in this episode who can’t see cus of the fungus and click as a way of echolocation which is similar to the mummy things in moon knight iykyk. but yeah hope that helps. there’s more stages but we haven’t encountered those in the show so that’s all for now
