2022-12-18 23:08:55 +0000 UTCAs many others have said, the movies especially paint all Slytherins in a negative light. My brother got sorted into that house and he’s lovely. He’s also resourceful, ambitious, and determined, all traits that house prizes. I’m honestly not sure where you’d end up in your own sorting(I’m guessing either Slytherin or Gryffindor, actually), but I’m super intrigued to find out. I myself am a Ravenclaw. I hope you take the quiz and record the reaction for it! Just make sure you do the official one through the wizarding world website(https://www.wizardingworld.com/sorting-hat). And yep, it’s true, these films really do just keep getting better and more mature, thematically. Such an amazing series. The next one is a big fan favorite (probably my own…hmmm, third favorite in the movie series and around the same for the books). My favorite movie is the final one (we love a series that sticks the landing!) and my favorite book was the sixth(with the final one as a super close runner up). I adore how much you’re embracing the magic and journey. All the best!

I mean, even in the end, everyone in the Great Hall including people from the Slytherin table (except for Draco and co) were also cheering and applauding with everyone else. It's just lazy writing on part of the author 🙄 Also, Tom Riddle is certified hot! Even in the books, he was always described as an attractive charismatic person, a teenage heartthrob and his transformation into "no nose" is indication of how his evil and ugly personality transformed him physically as well.

2022-12-15 23:50:30 +0000 UTCSomehow the movies 1 and 2 are much more warm-toned and cheery. It gets a lot gloomier and darker after this, but it's in keeping with the theme and the plot as well. After all, movies 3 onwards show the proper teenage evolution of our main characters.

I read the first two when I was 10 years old and then each as it was subsequently released, and I actually just reread the whole series for the first time since I was a kid just a couple of months ago. It’s lovely. All of what you want more elaboration on (and much, much more) is in them.

I once read a post I agreed with 100% that explained that many Slytherin are from families just like Draco's family. Therefore, they grew up learning those prejudices from an incredibly young age. When they start attending Hogwarts and get sorted into a house, everyone belives to be evil this clearly isn't helping. Since everyone believes them to be evil and they only have other kids who grew up in families just like theirs it is really no wonder that those children turn out like Draco (I view him as a morally grey character tbh I just feel rather sorry for him). My favourite character actually was a Slytherin, Regulus. Also, most of my friends are Slytherin as a Hufflepuff I have to say that I really appreciate Slytherin. They are the best friends you could have in your life tbh. Lastly, I am already excited for the next movie since Prisoner of Azkaban is so iconic, I believe for many Queer people, the third movie is an all time favourite...Lets just say a rather iconic queer ship was born in Prisoner of Azkaban (it is more like a fanon but you clearly got the vibes in Prisoner of Azkaban)

However this franchise has A LOT of small but very important details that’ll become important later so maybe consider rewatching the movies in your own time in between reactions if you don’t want to pause :) Also wanted to say I’m really enjoying this I don’t think I’ve ever watched HP with someone who hasn’t seen it (or read the books) before and it’s so much fun seeing your reactions and hearing your theories!

While most evil wizards have been in slytherin, plenty of normal ones also graduate from it (and also, evil wizards have been in other houses). slytherins are supposed to be ambitious, resourceful, clever, and determined! those are great traits, just bad when they happen in a bad person!
