i'm sure it's probably been talked about before here - but omar is absolutely incredible as simon as you mentioned. the amazing part is that young royals is his first acting role ever. he doesnt get anywhere near the credit he deserves for the portrayal of simon. he says so much with his facial expressions, his eyes and is obviously an incredibly talented musician (having been performing since he was a teenager in front of large audiences). edvin is obviously brilliant and he's got the years and years of experience; but omar's skill as a new actor is second-to-none. i'm sure that's also testament to his incredible friendship with edvin both on and off screen, as well as the amazing writers, directors and producers. can't wait to see more of his acting work!

the part that really fucks me up go this episode is when Marcus asked Simon what his fishies names are and he says they don't have any, like his face of "why did you ask me that now I'm thinking of the man I love saying that" i dont know that part gottttt me

edvin came up with the idea but omar didnt wanna use their actual names so he made up olle, oski and felle on the spot instead of their real names which are ogge (oscar), oscar and felix

The names of the fish are Olle, Oski, and Felle. The are actually the nicknames of members of Omars old boyand The Fooo Conspiracy or later known as FO&O. It was improvised and I think they said Edvin came up with it.

Great reaction, this is my favourite episode of Season 2 although the next two are also pretty great. Re. the names of the fish, in Season 1 there is a scene when Wille comes to Simon's place for the first time, and asks about the names of the fish and they have this beautiful and romantic moment when Simon is saying their names while Wille is hugging him from behind. You can see on Simon's face that he remembers that moment. Even the music stops when Marcus asks his question. Actually, the fact that Simon refused to tell Marcus the names of his fish was the first glimmer of hope for me, I knew then that everything would be OK in the end with him and Wille. Also, can we talk about how great of an actor Omar is? Everyone is praising Edvin, rightfully so, but I think Omar really outdid himself this season. His facial expressions were everything, I was panicking alongside Simon when Wille told him he was letting him go and gave him his blessing to date Marcus. Omar was so good in that scene, you could see the exact moment Simon realised he let things go too far and that he may actually lose Wille for real. He was like, wait what, who said I wasn't in love with you anymore? I love Simon, he's my favourite character in the show but sometimes he's just a dumb boy.

I saw something really interesting on one the twitter discussions about Simon being upset after the lunch scene. Aside from being jealous (because ofc he still loves Wille), he is not actually mad at Wille for kissing Felice but rather projecting the anger he feels towards the whole denial of their relationship onto Wilhelm. It does make sense for him to project it onto Wille tho, because Wille was essentially the one who denied their relationship and then wanted to pretend the video never happened, even though Simon had gone trough the trauma of the whole country seeing him on tape + Wille lying to him. I think this is very evident in their fight in the locker room. Simon is still very bothered by the whole video thing while Wille seems to have moved on. Simon can't accept Willes royal background, not actually because he has to be a secret (he was fine with that before the video), but because he realized at the end of S1 that he can't trust Wille as long as Wille's actions are dictated by the crown. To add to that, the lunch scene is also another example of everyone pretending the video didn't happen to Wille. All the boys at school know that it was Wille in the video with Simon, but none of them acknowledges it or even cares that Simon is present as the ex-boyfriend. Not even when he storms out in front of everyone. Wille is also celebrated and patted on the back for kissing a girl while his relationship with Simon is swept under the rug. TLDR; I'm sure Simons agrees with you that we really hate people, especially boys.

It's great to see such amazing new acting talent coming through and Edvin Rydings (Wille), Omar Rudberg (Simon), Kit Connor (Nick Nelson) and Joe Locke (Charlie Spring) have just been incredible. Edvin and Kit have acted before and for a while - which shows in just how polished their performances are in YR and Heartstopper. But Joe and Omar as newcomers are just fantastic for first acting roles, as Charlie and Simon are not easy characters to play I assume. These 4 actors are going places! And I can't wait to see the journey. The choir performance here at the end is just beautiful, my favourite scene of this season so far easily. Nice to see some happiness between Simon and Wille. And you're right, Wille's face is just hard not to tear up at, just such pride and love for Simon.

Finally ! This episode was such a breath of fresh air. That's one thing I love about this show. They know when to give us a little something to keep us going. Anyways, can't wait to watch the rest of your thoughts on the final 2 episodes.

When you made the comment about Willie’s face when Simon was signing - I felt the exact same way! I read in an article after the season was released that the actor who plays Wilhelm made it a point to not hear the song before they filmed him for this scene so it was his pure reaction to it. When they filed different angles of the scene he would not be part of it so he wouldn’t hear the song. This made me love this scene even more because it’s his genuine reaction to the song and also the actor who plays Simon’s genuine reaction to singing it in front of him 😭😭😭😭
