Not brad dropping the most insane lore at 44:34 :o

maddie baldwin

he really went from "stop invalidating people's experiences, ghosts exist" to "normal people are not gonna believe that"

i come across as judgemental often?

Brad Evans

To clear this up i thought it was obvious that i meant it as in the kinkier almost childlike sense (as that’s how aTheo said it, like she sounded childlike) it wasn’t meant to be a dig at other cultures etc as i know that words like that are normalised but in the Uk they’re definitely not. Overall it wasn’t meant to be a serious attack more so just a random thought i had, that i clearly didn’t think long enough about before mentioning.

Brad Evans

I’m glad someone brought it up. I was a little annoyed by Brad’s comment, more-so the “get yourselves together” part. It came off super judgmental, which he tends to do sometimes.

Ep 8 reaction is going to be siiiiiiiick

Imo that's sort of an implied point. They think of the Dad from a child's perspective because they never developed an adult relationship with him because he wasn't around. It's like Nell calling the mom Mommy before she gets pushed; she reverts back to a child seeking reassurance. It's used throughout, I think Steve or Luke says Mommy once too. Also, I take Sakura's side, it depends on the family what terms are used. I will admit though for me unfortunately the term Daddy has just been so sexualized that it always feels a bit weird to hear.

bits

A few things - the Dad is lovely as WE know him but the kid's resentment is TOTALLY justified -- he basically abandoned them after the Mom died. He's been an absentee parent for decades (he doesn't even know his own Grandkids.) It's implied he disappeared from their lives after they went to live w Aunt Janet, so your confusion with their hostility is confusing. Also you get angry at Steve for believing it's family mental illness but then you get mad at Luke when he points out the Dad never believed him as a kid ("big boys, etc"), that's a little hypocritical.

bits

I understand that. You can call them whatever it’s fit and whatever makes you comfortable. If mommy or daddy is what others prefer, then so be it. Don’t make people feel weird about it tho, that’s all I’m saying haha.

Guys I think he's talking more about it sounding almost childish in a sense. A lot of people have that opinion, especially in England and ESPECIALLY up north in England (I'm also from the North here like Brad) so it's just 🤷‍♀️😂 we just typically think it sounds a little immature to say mummy and daddy past a certain age, we teach kids those words because they're easier for them to learn/pronounce, but as you learn to talk better, you say the actual words. No offense is meant by it, it's just a thought process for a lot of people. (and I'm pretty sure he meant in English speaking countries, We know Spanish speaking countries and other languages use different words and words that sound similar to "mama" as you mentioned. We're fine with that.)

I also still call my parents Mama and Daddy. What? Am I supposed to change what I call them because other people have a problem with it? Just don’t care. 🤷‍♀️

Lindlee Bullock

Can't wait to see this after work :D

LC PS

Don’t come attacking us because we still call our parents mommy and daddy. I’m Latina so I call my mom Mami. It’s completely normal to do so. I’s weirdos on the internet or people with certain kinks (not trying to kink shame) that made the words have a negative connotation, but that’s not our fault. EDIT: I should’ve put a tone indicator just in case, my fault. I wasn’t trying to be aggressive on the first sentence lol. In my head I said it more sassily than aggressive so I apologize if it came off like that, Brad 🥴

Sakura

I’m missing Brads energy more and more these days so I’m really happy you posted 💜
