Something that was only somewhat illuded to in both adaptations but was obvious in the book was that Stan had a bit of The Shine (preturnaural feelings like the kid in The Shining/Dr Sleep) which is why everything was so much harder on him, plus he was sheltered and actually a year younger than the others...

So they filmed this after season 1 of Stranger Things and they said that while he was still this sweet and funny Canadian dude, Finn (Mike/Richie) showed up for season 2 with the worst potty mouth from filming this lol (he even improved the line to Dustin at the snowball where he said "Holy SHit, what happened to you?" based on his line from here

Gaytober let´s go! Bill Skarsgård (who plays Pennywise, great actor together with the rest of the Skarsgårds) scared the shit out of the kids on set. making kids shake and cry. Bill was kept seperated from the other cast just to preserve the terror, and was in character pretty much the whole time. He himself had nightmares about Pennywise after filming. He is really scary in Hemlock Grove, but also kinda hot haha, and both hot and hilarious in a Swedish series on netflix called Clark. I´m shit scared even watching this why.

I can’t remember if they elaborate on this in the movies or if it’s just in the book but the adults are such shits in this because of the influence of Pennywise. It’s corrupted them, that’s why they seem so menacing.
