Then I thought, "he's basically her dad..." and if there's something I've learned with my own, VERY (lol), protective parents is- a parent is going to do whatever they can to keep that kid safe. Also, he clearly knows her traumatic past and I wondered if that was another reason way he might not want her to even risk the chance that she would have to use her powers for any reason.. that's still a lot for a young kid to witness. But this is also my evaluation after watching the series for the 400th time lol. At first I thought he was being a control freak. As one does when raised by very caring parents who are indeed.... control freaks🤣!

2022-06-30 06:58:07 +0000 UTCHey there! This is my first time commenting, I have so much fun with these reactions^^ Just wanted to clarify a couple things, and don’t worry no spoilers. Starting with Hopper, basically when he got into that car at the end of S1, it was the corporation guys. That’s how Hopper is in contact with them, and why Will is going to see the doctor guy to monitor his episodes. Basically they were just checking in and making sure the agreement to keep quiet on everything was still going, and if there was anything unusual like with Will, to let them know. Touching base pretty much. Which brings me to Steve and Nancy. During the library scene, Nancy was upset because Barb’s parents don’t know she is dead, and are spending money to never know the truth. She thinks they need to go public, but like you said they have no proof. However what Steve explains to Nancy, is connected to what Hopper was dealing with. Everyone involved in what happened in S1, had to sign NDAs and basically legally promise (because the corporation guys are a secret part of the government) never to speak about what happened. Steve is basically saying, they can’t do anything without the threat of the corporation guys over their heads. They could come in and destroy their lives and their family’s lives. That’s why Steve is trying so hard to move on, because what else can they do? But Nancy mentally associates her and Steve’s night together, with Barb’s death. They were happy and doing their thing, after Nancy told Barb to just go home. So Nancy thinks they killed her because of that. In S1 that’s why she used bullshit for the first time when she had that argument with her mom about sleeping with Steve and lying about it to the cops, because she is now mentally projecting her guilt onto their relationship. Everything is bullshit, just like she said in this drunk bathroom scene, because they killed Barb. Which of course was not actually on them, but Nancy is a teenage girl going through a lot, so she hasn’t processed the loss if Barb properly. So not letting her go out and everybody think she's dead is what he thinks he needs to do. It's like Joyce not letting Will go anywhere by him self only more extreme. Mike's mom's name is Karen and her idiot husband's name in Ted not Tim. Billy and Max are only siblings by marriage. Ya Billy's hot as hell ,but a total asshole. He gets worse, but later you kind of get why he is like that. After season 2 is over you should watch Beyond Stranger Things. It's a behind the scenes look at seasons 1 & 2. You get to know the stars, Duffer Brothers and director.
