I have a theory that the little frog prince ornament that Wilhelm has in his room was given to him by Erik. Perhaps as an in joke, to encourage him to kiss some frogs in hope of finding his own prince? Perhaps that is why he used non gender specific language when referring to his crush (unless that is a common trait in Swedish language?)….

It's a Norwegian show and the season focuses on Isak who is closeted and experiences internalized homophobia while falling for a new guy at school. It was the most popular season and 8 other countries have recreated the show :) you would probably love it! Since you've started watching this, I'd totally recommend watching another Swedish produced series that actually got really popular internationally when it came out - recently just rewatched it and I remember why I liked it so much. It's called "Quicksand" or in Swedish "Störst av allt". It's about an 18 year old girl who's suspected of murder at her school after a school shooting. Maybe a bit of a serious topic and a bit graphic, but maybe its possible to look past that! ❤️
