I'm considering extending them to the Manor, as an integrated hint system.
I'm concerned it will get repetitive and that the tone will shift to borderline comedic.
I'm gonna be running a number of polls in the next couple of days to determine game direction and gather feedback. I would really prefer for people to comment instead, but maybe this will make it easier.

I think having something like the notes in the forest in both labs and mansion would be great, as to not only have a hint system, but could also flesh out a bit of these twisted worlds and get a glimpse of whats happened I also think having a maid/servant be the ones to do the notes in the mansion would be the idea, since like tundra mentioned, there is already a note from them in one of the servants rooms. But in any direction you choose, I think having notes would be great. while it is fun to explore and experiment in the dreams, you are also on borrowed time in them, so having something to help just a little as well as to give some flavor text to the scenario, either making it more scary or funny.

2024-12-26 14:52:53 +0000 UTCFollowing up with what Jon and Tundra suggested, I think there was a tablet in the labs that would be great for that, although you might have had a different idea for it, I think using that for the labs would be useful.

2024-12-26 14:43:25 +0000 UTCI liked the poor lost scientist's notes as she gradually descended into a mushroom obsessed wreck who's just throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks and then taking notes, because she's still a professional, dang it. Funny in the moment but horrific when you think too long about it, maybe Rin has the right idea, don't think about it :v Having one of her colleagues notes in the mansion could be one route, but you already had the diary in the maid dorm. So other servant notes about navigation or how to not get grabbed by the mimic and need ANOTHER replacement uniform could also work. Though the thought of some labcoat ripping out pages from books in a magic library to make scrap notes is also funny to me. I also loved how in the lab, one of the letters mentioning the budget said a lava lamp was 2% more efficient than a reality anchor for the same job. You could have it so the hub is unlocked by buying a lava lamp in the real world and just leaving it in your room, turning the random roulette of dreams into the corridor, or whatever shape the hub will eventually take.

2024-12-26 07:03:25 +0000 UTCMaybe for the lab instead of a diary you could have a tablet that you can keep the notes from the computers. Not a direct hint system but some way to keep notes organized.
