NPCs and depth sorting test
Added 2021-12-17 00:43:33 +0000 UTCHi All,
If you have a moment, please try running this.
Just walk around the area. I'm mainly looking at how bad the frame rate gets, if at all. Seeing as how I'm still getting error reports for memory related crashes, I might have to rethink my approach if it's bad enough.
Comments
Slight stuttering when comming towards heavily crowded areas, the movement of npcs gets slower too. PC specs: Running it from a standard SSD AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8 core 3.6 GHZ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 16 GB DDR4 RAM

2021-12-21 06:21:01 +0000 UTC"The purpose of the demo is to prove, test and demonstrate concepts/mechanics/visuals in a short period, in a condensed area. All created assets will eventually be used in the full game." I think I plastered that everywhere I could at this point. All my content is modular. You can see most of the encounter in the mansion area for instance. Nothing is "scrapped" and the demo is also still available if you need it, but I'm not maintaining or adding to it anymore. I could have added the "2 minutes of gamepaly" to the demo, but it wouldn't make sense narratively. I don't know what to tell you otherwise. Are you looking for a refund?

2021-12-20 17:15:14 +0000 UTCYou scrapped the whole game that was done so far and now remaking the whole game from scratch? or im missing something.... the original demo had some content in it these versions now just have like 2 minutes of gameplay and 1 sex scene with the facedick at the start...am i missing something? Either that or im realy dumb and i cant get past the part where the pink slime flows down the hall because after that there is nothing to do in the game or atlest i cant find anything

2021-12-17 16:13:52 +0000 UTCYeah you're right. Tested again and you only get these freezes on first area load with a lot of NPCs.

2021-12-17 15:03:03 +0000 UTCHad only one slight stutter at the exit to the Garden Area. Besides that, it was completely fluid. But than again my hardware is meant to play things like Cyberpunk and Borderlands 3 and such. I should not have any Problems playing something like a Pixes Art Game. And so far your coding does not seem to be that much off conserning Performence. If at all. Makes a solid impression to me.

2021-12-17 12:30:11 +0000 UTCThe stuttering happens when new texture pages are loaded. I expect those once per area. If it's happening periodically, it's a problem.

2021-12-17 03:14:44 +0000 UTCHad some slight stuttering and millisecond freezes on a high end Desktop-PC. Talking 32GB RAM, If that's your main concern. But only in zones with many NPCs.

2021-12-17 01:15:23 +0000 UTCGreat! Any chance I can have the laptop specs? A rough estimate is fine.

2021-12-17 01:13:14 +0000 UTCThanks for checking. I wasn't expecting anyone to talk to them, but I should have known better! The NPC with changing hair is actually 2 in the same spot. It's fine, they won't appear at the same time normally. I just needed to stress test this.

Also one of the npcs in the bottom of the room with her has hair that spontaneously changes colour. No apparent framerate issues for me, just a minor stutter as the game loads parts of the world in while I approach them (which is the same for the demo).
