Hello Super Science Friends patrons!
It's been a long weird year! I'm going to spare you the dreaded 2020 recap because it's been talked about way too much as it is...
Here's an update on what's going on with Super Science Friends and with our Patreon.
The Good News
Thanks to your generous support we'll be completing a short, 5-minute film all about Darwin this year! He's been underused in every single episode (including episode 5 which was supposed to be all about him) so it only seems fitting that he should finally get his due. As this is a stand-alone short film, we took the opportunity to have a bit of fun with the style. I hope you'll like it!
Our team needed to shift their focus to some other projects last year, but we're expecting to be able to wrap up Banquet on the Beagle for a June release.
The Bad News
As I mentioned above, we needed to shift focus to some other projects last year and we don't really know when we'll be able to shift back. So at the moment we're not planning on making any new Super Science Friends episodes in the near future.
Additionally, for anyone waiting on the video game, I'm sad to say that it's not something that will be completed anytime soon. The game company we were working with used up the full budget and went out-of-business without actually completing any levels. They did create a lot of awesome pixel animation, which we have, so it's possible that down the road we might be able to use those assets and release a playable brawler where you get to kill a bunch of nazis, but we're not sure when that would be.
If you're looking for an EXCELLENT Super Science Friends game, I recommend checking out the fan-made (but completely canon) SSF Time Runner. In all honesty, it's better than the game we were going to make anyways. I can't say enough good things about it.
What About the Patreon?
We're going to gradually wind down the patreon page while we deliver any outstanding rewards. We'll also reach out to anyone who's getting close to reaching a tier so that they don't miss out. If we start making new episodes down the road we'll definitely re-open the page.
Thank You!
I want to express my personal gratitude to everyone who ever supported us, either here on Patreon, or on the original Kickstarter. We only planned on making one episode, so the fact that we made a whole season, a weird anime episode, comic books, Marie Curie's Periodic Pantry, the Snake Pit mini-series (my personal favourite), Sneaky Little Nazis and a bunch of cool music videos was something I never expected.
I also never expected the fan art, the cosplay, the music covers, the Super Science June or the general excitement that surrounded the show. It's meant a lot to everyone who's worked on it.
I hope everyone has an excellent 2021 and that the world gets back to normal. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a message.
Thank you again.
