2022-08-31 04:50:39 +0000 UTCSpoilers ahead. So, here's my 10 Cents, and everywhere I go it seems like people are pissed and scrambling for proof that he will return. Yet I'm here, and I'm upset that Brian is dead, but I'm not mad. Why would I be? I completely understand story-wise why Brian is dead and was the character chosen, and understand in reality as to why. Here's the thing, story-wise. Let's say the writers chose to kill off an actual family member, let's say Meg, probably a charcter most don't gove a shit about in the audience. Let's say Meg is now dead, do you have any idea how unrealistic it would be despite all the 'fuck Meg' jokes for the family to just carry on like nothing happened? It would do one of two things if it were Meg or Chris or.. any other mortal human: It would either make the show seem unreal, or it would make the show have a constant and very dark presence to it, making the jokes seem in bad taste. But, with Brian, it does exactly what the show intended. It upsets the family, but now the family can move past that, because as most of you know, you have a pet and it dies and you're upset, but you carry on like nothing happened. It's a fucking dog. But, at the same time, it also upset the audience, no doubt some tears were shed and stuff, but this death was intended to upset us, but be real enough that the family can carry on. We care more about Brian than the family does. It's realistic to me, the death was a realistic one, one that probably hits home for a lot of people, and his parting words were happy ones. Brian would want the family to move on, he even said so to Stewie a few seasons back. And the little touch at the end of the episode there to Vinny, this is the start of another good friendship, hopefully. Honestly, the only thing I'm not happy about in this whole ordeal is there is no liberal douche jokes in the show, and in the same vein good logical arguements from Brian. I'll miss the voice of reason in a mad world kinda vibe. If they Bring Brian back, great. If they don't, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
