Yeah, gave her a temporary upgrade for this occasion. What's the occasion you may ask? Well, I've been digging a bit into how I conduct my art, streamlining a few processes and developing new ones while I'm at it. Lizzy here was the first to be exposed to a variety of new techniques.
A few in particular:
- my old and trusty "drop shades in a Multiply Layer"
- "let's colour every colour in their own layer"
- "Let's forget about shades all together and go Highlights"
In the end I confused myself by picking desaturated colours for the first and last, thereby skewing the results. As everyone was pointing towards the more vibrant one. Which was the "let's colour" technique. But with a small twist of a nob I could turn both other styles into the same saturation, thus defeating the purpose. XD
In the end the last technique is sticking the most. I play with colours on a few other layers for balancing if need be.
I feel that over the past couple of months my work has seem some maturation either way. Inks are more defined and finer and above all, I dare to play with colours a bit more.
Obviously not there yet, as there'll be more than enough to learn. But these steps have at least given me some confidence to move forwards.
