One of the best, my favorite of season 5. Love the time loop premise in this and any show really. Some shows do it better than others but TNG is my favorite. Easy S.

there's a great image stabilization video on YouTube of the Picard in the command chair shot where the shot is stable and no longer shaking and he's lunging around that's great! great episode! solid direction by franks! this was a complicated endeavor for him!

Easily one of my favorites and in the top 10 if not higher. It is very well done the way they repeat the same thing over and over but keep it extremely engaging.
You may already know this, but regarding the mention of Saavik, she was originally supposed to be the character in STVI but at "the last minute" it was decided that they didn't want to take a popular character and make her evil.
Regarding this preceding Groundhog day, there is at least one other TNG episode and one very, very late DS9 episode which also essentially do the plot of an *extremely* popular movie that was universally praised for being totally innovative and never before done - and they did it 20 years earlier.

I loved this episode. This episode came out before Groundhog Day; you might have given it an "S", if you had never seen a similar story. (Frakes at first thought they were pranking him as the script just kept repeating.)

After the second run thru, I yelled at the t.v. saying "What the hell is happening?!?!"
