His Savior Complex is so deeply ingrained that almost his entire personality centers around helping others, and if he can't help or if there's nothing to help with, he has no idea what to do with himself; at the same time, he can't ask anyone else for help with his own issues because then he's putting his problems onto them, so he "helps" by not doing that and just keeping it all bottled up. Bismuth and Pearl are very shippable. We even saw they had some chemistry back in the first Bismuth episode, not to mention Bismuth is totally Pearl's type: physically large, colorful hair, and kind of a dork. I also love how emotionally intelligent Bismuth is; Steven would have left his issue completely unaddressed if not for Bismuth clocking the problem immediately and setting him straight.
