I've seen men turn at the drop of a hat over rejection, so it didn't seem that far removed from reality I think thats whats so scary about it

2025-04-25 18:54:11 +0000 UTCThis episode felt very real to American high school. Totally agree that Kit has gone pretty far down the road to unlikable. I do wish that shows were willing to have greater variety of emotional reactions from male characters getting rejected - not just 'sad and pining' and 'entitled and angry'. I'm hopeful that there will be a storyline about a male character getting rejected, and the rest of the cast watch him expecting some incel nonsense because he's avoiding them, acting awkward and weird, and have it be revealed that he's avoiding them because he really liked the person he asked out and it hurts to be around them, but he's figuring out what to do next. We've gotten much better representation of the range of female characters vs romance tropes, so I hope that the boys get a little more nuance and variety.

2025-04-23 22:24:14 +0000 UTCI think the point of Hat Day and seeing the rest of Spirit Week was just to show Jentry being happy being normal. My heart breaks for Kit in this episode because he wanted someone who viewed him as human and not a monster and thought Jentry would, but she rejected him just like everyone else did upon finding out. I in no way think Jentry is required to be with him and has every right to reject him. I just wish there was a better way to go about it. Kit returned to the original plan to become human because he felt like being a monster was still the problem. I don't think Jentry would take him even if he did become human. He has to move on from her. Being rejected is also part of being human and his thoughts and desires show he is perfectly human without soul, but he can't see that when he is focusing all on his flaws and differences.
