Blue is stuck in Depression, while Yellow is stuck in Anger. I could go even further into it, but that way leads to spoilers.

Burying herself in work and trying to move on. Both are valid but taken to extremes due to their long life span.

And they really don't. I mean, they're literally treating them like small children. The "Chosening" is of course like a zoo breeding program. Make sure the specimens don't get too inbred.
