It's Too Much!!!

Hilda s2 ep4 The Eternal Warriors

Very good way of looking at it!! David is turning into my favourite Hilda character because there's room for him to grow, and when I say grow I don't even mean to become braver. Just in accepting himself and his fears and trying not to let them hold him back which he's slowly been doing. It's such a sweet, slow progression that we don't get enough of in young boy characters. I felt really sorry for him this episode because his fear / hesitation was 100% justified. And I was totally with him. We can even see him trying to stand up a little more in this episode compared to where he was in s1, and still they didn't listen to him. So it's not just him who needs to grow, but his friends need to grow into better friends too.

Oh god the child murder episode

Just as you were asking for David development, the poor boy gets decapitated. Twice. The societal pressure on boys to be strong and brave and "manly" is a truly toxic thing. While we may not have seen those direct pressures on him, it's kind of understood. While David has the amulet to account for his behavior, you will see this at that developmental stage where some kids pull a complete 180 and become a caricature of what they believe people want them to be. In David's case, he's friends with two very brave and adventurous people. Sometimes people like that will leave friends like David behind. Thankfully, Frida and Hilda are more patient and understanding with him than others might be.

I get what Mosco's aiming for with her shirt, but doesn't the design look quite a bit like the clusters of forced-fusion gem shards?

Apparently, the plot of this episode is based on a story from Norse mythology, where two armies were doomed to fight each other for all eternity. I actually don't know the full story about it, but still. Also yes, David did just die twice in this episode. Kinda crazy how much casual murder they put into such a cozy and kid-friendly show.

Hilda really has that Don Bluth thing going on, colorful and fun but not afraid to push the boundaries of what's a little too dark, a little too scary for it's intended audience sometimes. Which I believe is why my generation holds those movies in such high regard. (and man does hilda have a late episode that would have freaked me out as a child)

been watching another reactor doing clone wars recently and...wow are there a lot of decapitations in that show, as well as a handful of on screen human deaths in almost every episode. Yet it still carries the stigma of being a kids show, thematically it's also just very adult much of the time.

At 16:10 one of the warriors has a bat'leth, a sword the Klingons in Star Trek use. I saw that and this became one of my favourite episodes instantly :D

Y’know. Normal, cozy, kid show shenanigans xD

I love twig so much. Any episode where he’s present is a good episode imo 🥰

Cozy show and then suddenly child decapitation and slight body horror and light gore. Hilda is funny like that.
