It’s probably the most popular non-canon ship involving Peri today.

There was a big explanation about it on the discord server a week or so ago, it's, mildly spoilery so I won't go into it here. (i'm also not sure how much of it is actually accurate as opposed to fan headcanon drama)

2025-02-07 03:59:29 +0000 UTCSuper fun batch of episodes! Back when it first dropped, I wrote a longass tumblr post talking about Message Received and why I enjoyed it so much. I still think it's one of the best written episodes in SU. And that's because they were able to have Peridot choose Earth (and Steven and the Crystal Gems) in a way that made sense for PERIDOT as a character. It wasn't (just) the patience and kindness and song-singing, though obviously all of those things helped. All of that was enough for Peridot to come to the conclusion that Earth (and the things/people living on it) was worth protecting, but the realistic part comes from her still not 100% understanding their wildly different perspective on the matter. And how could she, in such a short time? To Peridot, it makes sense to try negotiating with Yellow because Yellow is supposed to be OBJECTIVE and LOGICAL. It's when Yellow acts SUBJECTIVE and ILLOGICAL when presented with what Peridot sees as a reasonable plan to save the Earth that Peridot finally makes a meaningful choice that lands her solidly on the side of the Crystal Gems. Something I think gets really easily overlooked in that sequence with her talking to Yellow is that Peridot even has the chance to keep her mouth shut and go home, back to her old life, because Yellow mentions sending a ship to pick her up. So it's not even that Peridot was going to be abandoned on Earth for failing her mission/wasting Yellow's time and that's why she opts to rebel - her choice wasn't one made because she had no other. That's the most important part of all this to me, and the show did a great job of writing it in a suspenseful but believable way. If you rewatch the episode and pay attention to Peridot's phrasing, her intent can come off either as betrayal and her disregarding/not understanding everything Steven and the others believe OR as her having a difference of opinion in HOW to solve the same problem (how do we stop the cluster/save Earth?) Their end goal IS the same, but Peridot simply thinks the better way to achieve that is by doing what she sees as making the most logical sense (appeal to the higher power who, if she wanted, could absolutely solve all of their problems.) Oops, I've made another longass post. But I just can't help it, I think this episode really is one of the best (which is high praise in a show with a lot of great writing.) I remember being so curious how they were going to fold Peridot into the team and if they could manage it naturally, but they knock it out of the park in my opinion!

This episode may not have had a lot of plot relevancy in it, but damn is it one of my favorites. Lowkey kinda glad you're doing this reactions well after the Amedot and (------) ship wars have died down, cause things were pretty brutal in the SU Fandom when it came to shipping back then.

These were the first episodes I watched the premieres of when they aired back in 2016 (I caught most of the way up beforehand through reruns and pirating of course), and wow did they work to get me hooked--on the show and on Peridot--cause there I was tuning into Cartoon Network for every premiere from there on out! Out of all iconic moments, the Peridactyl's vicious Clod attack really is one for the ages!

Back in the first season, Ronaldo mentioned a Diamond Authority in one of his unhinged conspiracy rants. Every time he talks about conspiracies, he mentions something that is actually true but isn't revealed until later, but you can't tell until after the fact because everything he says is so off the wall. It's an in-universe version of the YouTube comments making up fake spoilers to hide comments with real spoilers. If you notice on the world map, there are a number of differences from the real world, such as a chunk of western Africa attached to South America, Australia is in at least two pieces, and so on, but the most prominent and noticable is that ocean where most of Russia should be. The show was banned in Russia because of their anti-homosexuality laws, so the writers decided that, and I quote, "If Steven Universe is banned in Russia, then Russia is banned from Steven Universe."

2025-02-06 21:49:50 +0000 UTCThe different ruins they look at in the base near the end of it could have been great are largely places we've already seen early in season 1 the first, as you noticed, was the tower from cheeseburger backpack the second is the arena pearl uses for training connie (and where she was training and got accidentally poofed in season 1) the third is the temple where steven got the time travel thing in "steven and the stevens" (where he made a bunch of time travel duplicates of himself) I'm less sure about 4 and 5, but 6 is the communication tower from the episode where pearl was tricking garnet into fusing. The next...i'm not sure, maybe the inverted pyramid from serious steven? The last one (that you thought might be the standing stones) is the galaxy warp, the place they first met peridot in season 1, where garnet destroyed the central pad back to homeworld she'd just arrived on after her bots repaired it. (and for the map, you are thinking of a map that doesn't use the Mercator projection, which deforms the shapes of countries near the poles, resulting in things like greenland looking much larger than it really is on many maps)

I know it's already scheduled but it was so wonderful to come here and watch such a beautiful reaction to these episodes. Peridot is such a lovable, beautiful character in this wonderful show. It took me a little bit to be in a good enough place to watch, but these reactions make me feel so happy. Seeing someone love Peridot as intensely as you do that you apologize for her is so sweet. I love these reactions and commenting. <3

She did something similar with jailbreak in season 1, since it's episode 51. The rest of the seasons have even numbers of episodes so it shoudn't be an issue again.

Peridot holds the diamonds in very high regard, they are the pinnacle of gem society in her eyes, and as such, dirt, the opposite of a diamond, is the lowest thing there is.

Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl are all basically the same characters in the first episode to the last. We learn more about them but they don’t really change. Steven grows but his arc is basically maturing. Lapis has a bit of an arc but it’s not nearly as dramatic as Peri.

Nor is Canada an archipelago, nor is Australia heavily flooded, nor does it have JAPAN Right Next To It - to name just a few. It's kinda hilarious that this is meant to be the reveal of just how much damage to the planet these ancient alien invaders have done before they were stopped, and it just WHOOSHED right over Mosco's head 😂
