If there's this big power imbalance between Rose & Pearl, if Rose owned Pearl & Pearl idolized Rose - then of course Rose's attention would make Pearl feel like everything. Of course she'd follow her into the dredges of war & look after her son even after she's gone. That was the person that (at least in Pearl's mind) gave her life value & meaning. That's hella toxic of course & I'm not saying that's how it is, but it's not at all unreasonable to form that conclusion with the pieces Mosco has so far.

Stuff I hadn't thought about the multiple times I've watched this show. Like the connection that Amethyst might be into wrestling because she was created to be a soldier, I sort of put two and two together with Pearl and Peridot, but I didn't think about how her purpose might effect her. I love these reactions.

One of many, many things I love about Peri: she's autistic coded and you get to see both positive and negative sides of that in some depth. For example, may autistic people find it difficult to express themselves, respond to others and process social interactions and/or emotions in 'real time' during conversations. Taking time to record an awkward apology like this then suddenly coming up to someone to deliver it is very much something I find familiar. Even more common is reading off a sort of script or notes.

I have not watched Stranger Things so no idea on that. The Owl House: I would understand to a degree... Even so it was cut short prematurely. As for She-Ra: Possible, but I do not know how much personal bias did it affect when she made that comment

2025-01-30 23:27:18 +0000 UTCWhen Rebecca Sugar was asked about it she said she doesn't consider any of the Gems neurotypical, as they don't think, perceive or behave in ways the general population would consider typical. She also pointed out how she felt growing up as non-binary bisexual and that the Gems are meant to reflect variety of experiences of being made to feel "other" and how in this show they're being rooted for. But (speaking as myself, not quoting Rebecca) while Gems are very human in many ways, they are also non-human in others, so a lot of stuff with them is metaphorical by design and not a literal case of various human experiences.

Pearl to be made, but rather inspired her to be her own gem. Of course, if Pearl was designed to be a servant first and foremost, that might explain the almost worshipful attitude she has towards Rose.

So glad she is picking up on so much, so fast but when you learn pearl's story I promise you will be floored emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually. I mean when you learn that she was technically the first gem in existance, and made other pearls, but then accidentally made yellow diamond who challenged her to power, and she lost therefore forcing her and her kind to a life of servitude and placing her kind at the bottom of the hierarchy over time. Man totally put her into a new light. Her life has been so tragic and all I wanna do is give her a hug.

Edit: I looked it up; apparently, "Dictaphone" was a company Alexander Graham Bell founded, which produced dictation machines (sound recording devices), and the term has now been turned into slang for any dictation machine — including tape recorders.
