The blue gem is Steven's sister Nora. You get to meet her in Season 4. That's why Steven only has 1 gem. Rose gave her other gem to her daughter.

2024-11-10 23:34:57 +0000 UTCIt's actually, insane to look back at the seeds planted here & it's not like a lore thing it's just that emotionally Steven just had a subtle but significant worldview change, "I need to appear strong for my family - if I don't put on a brave face this thing's going to fall apart" but that's a surefire way to cause issues later & I think it's great writing to take these little breadcrumbs to explore the characters which end up with amazing stories that dive deep into their insecurities. 😅 cool thought for about 68 weeks from now

One thing I love about this pair of episodes is the vulnerability Steven gets to witness in the Crystal Gems. In The Test, it's seeing them concerned that they're the ones failing him. That they are actually a little insecure about the job they're doing. And in Warp Tour, fear. Absolute panic over what this revelation means. And don't get too hung up on Peridot. Like Boba Fett to the early Star Wars fandom, she's a short-lived character that everyone loves for some reason, and winds up getting defeated unceremoniously. Boba Fett wound up in the Sarlac Pit Monster, Peridot winds up in a toilet. Bloodstone is the real big bad of the series.

2024-11-07 20:48:42 +0000 UTCI think it's fitting that while this episode looks back at Cheeseburger Backpack and shows how much he's grown, at the same time you can also see the growth of Zach Callison into his role as Steven. Zach was a kid when this started, and as his voice started changing, he adapted his Steven voice. It comes across slightly more mature here, which fits his character growth.

There's a point in many children's lives when they come to the realization that their parents (or guardians) are just people, with emotions and limitations and struggles, trying to help. Steven taking that step to see the three as being vulnerable, dealing with their own confidence and trying to help him with no guide... very relatable experience for so many of us, one side and the other.

(Which IMO is really good writing) In my experience, I didn't understand anything until they practically told me what was happening. However, I HIGHLY recommend a rewatch once you finish Steven Universe, because there is SOOO much that you pick up on from the characters to backgrounds.

At some point you'll learn about how gem cuts work and how that plays into each gem's powers; remember they're beings of light so a different cut does different things, which is what you may see with Garnet. Later on, you'll meet another gem whose cut, 5XG, makes her very tall and important in the hierarchy.

Or like, they don’t understand the human societal concepts of relationships. which is why some times you see them act dismissive of steven’s feelings, like in warp tour, or his safety, like when pearl built the space ship. also test episode is one of my favorites. The emotional maturity of it is just amazing
