The elf's name is "Alfur", with an "r" at the end. It's a bit hard to tell because Hilda and her mother speak with a non-rhotic accent, unlike you or me.

Everdell kinda sounds like Catan, but with a bit of a Watership Down feel.

Happy to see more Hilda reactions, particularly with Fall looming.
I love the relationship between Hilda and her mum in this series. Too often, the parent is regarded as an obstacle, or someone our young protagonist must keep their secrets from. It's not all smooth sailing, but I love that more often than not, she's Hilda's ally and partner on her adventures.
We called it "Ding-Dong Ditch" where I'm from. It was never an issue in my neighborhood as we lived out in the middle of nowhere.

Interestingly, while most of the spirits and beings and whatnot in Hilda come from Scandinavian stories, the Thunderbird actually comes from Native American lore.
(Which might explain why the Great Raven has an American accent. ;)

My grandparents' house was a narrow several story building that had a buzzer and then a speaker horn to communicate (the front door opened to a tall flight of narrow stairs to the main floor).
Speaker horns; old timey intercom tech! Heh. (just a funnel and tubing)

Growing up in the south of England we called the "Knock Down Ginger" - "ginger" in this instance meaning "courage" and/or "quick".
I love the dynamic between Hilda and her mum. The level of mutual respect they have is refreshing - the show avoids a bunch of clichés because of it.

I've heard the term "door dash" before...but not until long after I was no longer a kid likely to do something like that, so I don't think that - as kids - we had an actual term for it.
