Dragon Prince s2 ep6 Full, Early, Uncut

Comments

Heck yeah Terry Pratchett FTW.

GeeksFTW

So many thoughts about this episode, two of them have already been talked about in previous comments but one additional thing that is well .. very random but seeing the end of the flashback, when queen Sarai saves Viren, made me rethink about the scene between Viren and Amaya on Sarai's grave (S01 EP5 ) When we see that scene it's already heavy, but god the amount of baggage it actually has : Viren is standing at the exact place he stood when Sarai did save him, which is what the statue frames, he is the reason ( mostly) of her death, he s standing next to her sister who probably mourned her way way more than him, he's like a spectator in all of this, even the words he says to Amaya aren't coming (I think?) from pure sincerity Like.. it made this early scene way different in my head now

The scene with Harrow and Young Callum at the end of the flashback killed me when I realized that what Harrow said to Callum was the *same thing* Callum said to Ez when he tried to tell him about their dad's death.

Harrow's (the king's) letter had 3 elements: a lie, a wish and a secret. The lie is the idea that history is a narrative of strength and power, instead of love and kindness; the wish is for his sons to grow free from the past and for them to control their own futures; the secret is the Key of Aaravos for Callum (the cube); then there's the super secret bonus secret that Bait loves belly rubs

Fake spoiler: dream hippo will come and defeat Aaravos like the could rhino in James and the Giant Peach 😁

In reality, the pose of a horse in a statue has far more to do with the artistic choice of the sculptor than anything else. No one has found any evidence that a particular pose was ever consistently used to indicate the fate of the rider.

SweetCandle

Amaya: How does my face look? Sarai: Not great, but you should see the other guy.

SweetCandle

You asked if the lie had anything to do with Queen Aanya not agreeing to the plan even after admitting that her mothers probably would. It kind of does, in my opinion. As mentioned, the lie is the lie of history. That history is not about strength and victory, which is about power, but about love and compassion. I think unlike Viren, and even her mothers, Aanya has come to understand this. That's why she mentions that she has come to know her mothers through stories. Those stories clearly taught her this lesson about history.

The lie was more philosophical than you were looking for

Suplee215

Oh, Aaravos is just the taffy hippo from Ezran's dream. Totally not an important character or anything.

Flufux

I agree with some others on here, heard you hype this show in other vids and decided to give this a go. Very quickly binged the first three seasons because it’s so damn good. Thank you for introducing me to this!

Tangerra

I’m here to tell you to keep hyping this show up cause I started it because of how much you’ve been talking about it in other videos and now I’m obsessed

Blue Eons

Right, Harrow starts explaining this around 14:53 in this video, and picks it up around 30s later. I think Mosco got distracted with speculation.

K

The lie was that strength means power and armies and the willingness to wield them, to be hard, when true strength is in love and compassion and the willingness to wield THOSE, to be "soft" when needed.

JHB

Ah yes, the great arch mage Aaravos, known for his most terrifying spell: stampede of taffy hippos.

Ryan Porter

Mosco, just think of your sister ship mix-up as your own version of "The Dragon Prince Abridged"

JHB

I always thought the lie was when he said "history is a narrative of strength" and this strength is found in weakness and love.

PinkPonytail _Girl

"The Great Lie of History."

David Johnson

The lie is that strength lies with power, (the truth is that it lies with love). The wish is for Callum and Ezran to be free and not shackled by the burdens of history. The secret is that the cube is called the Key of Aaravos, which (to quote THIS ep) belonged to elven “archmage Aaravos, a master of all six primal sources.” <= REMEMBER THIS name for later, oh wee dyslexic one. ;)

Ríon

Oop. First mention of Great Mage Aaravos. I’m sure that wont come up again Also yah, the lie was the lie of history, and how it is told as a narrative of strength (aka power). The king ends up saying how true strength is in vulnerability and love. tho your enemies will see it as a weakness, not a strength. Thus, the lie of history = strength

Annieme

The lie was seemingly about history being a story of victory and strength. A warning about listening to propaganda of a glorious past or deeds that need avenging. As Terry pratchett wrote in "Small Gods" victors don't talk about glorious victories, victors get to see what the battlefield looks like afterwards.
