2024-07-07 19:22:26 +0000 UTCAs somebody watching it for the first time alongside mosco's schedule I get the impression it'll be a very catra/adora thing where they just have wildly different world views that will clash violently as it puts them on opposite sides of a conflict. It's not a simple good and evil thing, and that makes it much harder to resolve.

2024-07-06 21:44:27 +0000 UTCI was pondering the low numbers, too, and also came up with the lack of queer representation (so far). I’m not sure if the strong serialization would have such an impact but it might combined with the fact that the story moves rather slowly. I don’t mind that because it leaves a lot of room for character interaction but I could see people being like “we’re in season two and they’re still walking towards the border.” There are also some plot points I thought we’d have reached by now—it’s been a few years since I’ve watched these seasons. Anyway, I love the reactions and hope they won’t fall victim to viewership optimization.

2024-07-06 19:45:27 +0000 UTCMorality is actually such a fascinating concept in the dragon prince and I'm so glad you caught onto it, because it only gets more nuanced. Obviously its typical for a villain to delude themselves they're doing "the right thing" but this show really delves into the specifics of why the characters do the things they do as the plot thickens. And so you get sweet characters like claudia doing horrid things because she entirely believes that she is good, and the two halves of herself aren't contradictory in her eyes like they are in ours. A lot of the character stuff is soooo well written I'm so obsessed I need this show to gain more traction because its so good!!!! And the creators are amazing to the fandom!!!

Because I want to check you out!" Claudia: *makes pancakes* Mosco: "Everything she does is pointing to her becoming evil!" Claudia's not bad; she's just going through her goth phase. She's actually a blond like Soren. Mosco: "I'm not sure which way I want it to go!" (Insert bi ambivalence joke here) I wonder if Dragon Prince isn't doing as well as, say, She-Ra or The Owl House because a.) it's not as gay (yet) and b.) it's _very_ serialized, whereas other shows in this age range tend to be more episodic.
