2024-07-03 23:44:16 +0000 UTCI don't know if anyone else mentioned this in the comments but Sadie (donut shop girl) is voiced by the same person as Webby in Ducktales. And many fans agree that Lars (donut shop boy) is a bit of a shit at the start of the series. Really glad you're enjoying this show already, I got hooked into it starting with So Many Birthdays (s1ep13) and Steven the Swordfighter (s1ep16) so not far from now, but unless one of my interviews comes back with a yes, I'm going to have to opt out after my free trial. I'm not making much over minimum wage so I really can't afford patreon right now. A couple suggestions I can make when you either finish Good Omens or Dragon Prince is to try out a show by one of the people who worked on this show, Ian-Jones Quartey, called O.K. K.O. The main character has a lot in common with Steven, it's got a ton of video game references, there's even a Sonic guest star episode, and the villains are very fun. Last suggestion would be Star vs the Forces of Evil which has a lot of similar vibes to SU and a main character who has a lot in common with Luz of Owl House, but reversed worlds, where she is a magic girl coming to earth instead of an earth girl going to a magic world.

This is definitely a slow burn you will enjoy, and it's really nice to rewatch the early episodes before... spoilers happen. I also have to admit that Cat Fingers absolutely terrified the sh!t out of me when I first saw it, and a surprising amount of season 1 is really f#cked in similar ways.

Each episode is an adorable little story but the overall idea of what has happened, and what will happen builds and builds. And it makes sense that we, the audience, aren't aware of the backstory because the show is told from Steven's perspective and he doesn't know either.

Other shows probably would have had her character get mad at Steven and blame him for the whole misadventure, becoming a passive antagonist Steven is constantly trying to do right by. Nah. The kid wants friends, and Steven is everybody's friend! I do love the relationship between Steven and the other Gems. Like I said before, they're like aunts, but you pointed out the kind of big sister bond they have at times. Also valid. The way they all have unique traits as a guardian that make them individually fit for the role. But if you mashed all these traits and personalities together you'd get one proper Mom Universe. Rose left her kid in good hands. It's clear they all love him in their own way. Pearl proposing a play date between Steven and Connie... She means well, but it's a little bit infantalizing. Still, I imagine whatever she proposed would be safe and informative. Like teaching the kids about the history of swords. Cool aunt Garnet would probably let them play pretend swords. And chaotic aunt Amethyst would probably let them play WITH swords.

The harpoon moment is a scene that always gets a hard laugh out of me, I usually have to stop and try to stop laughing at it. Pearl's "I misunderstood the point of this ride." line had me in stitches when I first saw it. I love visual jokes like that and it remains among my top favourite tv show jokes. I am very glad that you're liking the show as much as you have so far, I was in the same boat before I watched it for the first time earlier this year. Usually, I steer clear of episodic shows but this one really won me over with how endearing and cute it is, it does get a lot better later on but the first season is no slouch. I hope you continue to enjoy it as much as you have thus far at the very least. Your reactions are wonderful to watch and I hope that you're doing well.

But once you accept him as just being very naive but genuine, you come to realise how endearing he is and fall in love with him. As a fellow older sibling, brings up a lot of feeling lol. Rewatching these episodes is so sweet, I love my baby boy. :’3c
