Ducktales s1 ep14 Full, Early, Uncut

Old school special effect is why the Lord of the Rings never get old! The computer Special effect was great, but so many great old scool effect in this movies.

This episode was a love letter to the two original shows, Ducktales '87 and Darkwing Duck. (BTW, Darkwing Duck was an absolute classic, and all those villains in the beginning were in the show.) As other people have mentioned, Launchpad was in both shows, but in a kind of alternate universe way. Also, you know who else was in both shows? Gizmoduck! He was very much based on Robocop, which also had the theme of human cyborgs vs. heartless robots.

*provided apology tour doesn't preempt ducktales monday

ooh, yeah, I forgot about that one, thought gizmoduck was the last character introduction episode. Next week will be a fun one.

who time traveled from the past to fight robo scrooge, who is secretly goofy, hence the roxanne showing up in the background all over the place.

Every day I get more and more convinced that the world is a simulation, made by someone with the maturity of a high school student just to see what the fuck would happen.

Lin

Which is kind of funny, because in the 1987 series, Fenton was voiced by actor/singer/songwriter _Hamilton_ Camp.

SweetCandle

Favorite character next episode!

Honestly, you're not going to see much about the triplets' mother or Magica until the end of the season. This is because it turns out Magica is their mother.

Hans Frisky Andherson

If memory serves (it probably isn't) Launch Pad is a relatively better pilot in Darkwing Duck

Porpoise Power

Might have something to do with an episode from the 87 series called "The Masked Mallard" where Scrooge did become a superhero. That and a separate episode focused on Launchpad were the early blueprints for what eventually became DW.

That voice you like is Lin-Manuel Miranda, writer and original star of Hamilton, creator of in the Heights, blah, blah, blah more musicals, responsible for the music of Moana and Encanto and even more crap and he's fucking everywhere! (I love Lin he's my name sake)

Lin

As a kid I always thought Darkwing was a young scrooge. I have no idea why.

God, I need to rewatch gargoyles. I love Keith David as goliath.

Interesting tidbit, though Launchpad was in both the origional Ducktales and Darkwing Duck, the creators confirmed they technically were initially NOT the same individual. Like different parallel universes or something. The Launchpad that worked for Scrooge was not the same individual who was a sidekick for Darkwing.

I know Elijah has seen Encanto. I can’t wait for her reaction to this episode.

Phineas5381

It's a bit later, at least according to imdb the final episode of ducktales aired november 28th 1990, while darkwing duck's first episode premiered september 6th 1991.

he's also written a ton of music for recent animated movies, encanto for instance, which I imagine mosco would recognize if she heard it. He has a very distinctive style.

Like many previous comments have said, that’s Lin Manuel-Miranda as Fenton/Gizmoduck. I don’t know if you’ve seen Hamilton, but if not, you can find it on Disney+. Highly recommend 👍🏻

Phineas5381

Fenton/Gizmoduck is voiced by Lin Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame!

Tristan Haller

the "oscillation overthruster" mentioned is actually a movie reference, the movie: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension

largo778 .

As soon as he said "Fenton Crackshell" and "Blathering Blatherskite" us original Ducktales fans went crazy. Also, Gizmoduck is voiced by Lin Manuel-Miranda, The guy who wrote the musicals Hamilton and In The Heights, played Hamilton himself, and wrote the scores for Moana, Vivo, and Encanto.

Dan_Gaming_Fan

BTW, Launchpad's birthdate on the license is the date the first episode of the original Ducktails premiered.

Bill Cypher sighting on the post-it notes! Anyway, yeah, Darkwing Duck was my favorite of the duckverse Disney Afternoon shows growing up (actual favorite being Gargoyles. Naturally.) So Launchpad is pretty much me in regards to that. LOVED that they got the original VA's back for that segment!

Reym

Fun fact for ya! Lin-Manuel Miranda voiced Fenton! I was flabbergasted when I found out

Elijah Mishmash

It’s nice that they got Jim Cummings back to voice Darkwing Duck.

Daniel Davies

I do sort of consider it a spin-off, considering Launchpad is one of the main characters.

Daniel Davies

"Dark Wing Duck" was on at the same time as the original 80s Ducktails as a sorta, kinda, but not really spin-off.
