WHOOOPS did nOT realise that episode 1 I was given was the pilot episode.... so uh HERE'S EPISODE 0.5 AND 2 REACTION LOL I'm including the REALY episode 1 in with episodes 3&4.
Awww we're off to such a cute start to the show! Feel free to correct anything I said wrong in the comments! I am asuming episode 1 was a pilot and thats why the designs changed so much in episode 2? Especially on Pearl?

Finally here, I made it. Known about Mosco for a long time, just never had the motivation to join and give her a shot since I had enough reactors to follow. But finally, after all this time, I have them all: Elijah, Morgan, Mosco. Anyway, what my comment is really about: 34:33 I've watched this show between 5 and 10 times and I NEVER caught the real reason it lit up, I just thought it was a "meta" effect for the viewer, not actually happening in-world lmao.

They leave it up for anybody to read characters however they like, even when asked specifically about it. So even with the queer characters in the show, there's no specifics as to their attraction :3c there are canon pronouns for every character tho, even ones that in-show aren't referred to (mostly bc they appear super rarely) by any. so that's pretty pog :duckdance:

Pearl is a huge lesbian and I'd say more about other gems and the show in general but I refuse to spoil! Episode one is a bit rough, but I would STRONGLY suggest going back to watch it for the sake of continuity and because there's a surprising amount of setup in it that will pay off down the line. ------- Season one can be pretty slow overall, but I think these episodes bear a lot of the brunt of the basic worldbuilding by just letting you experience it, so they're very important for what comes later.

The first season is REALLY rough to watch compared to later ones. It will seem pretty random, there are bright spots but the show doesn't seem to have a plot line or reason for nearly 20 episodes. And the world is assumed to be our world, as far as I can tell. Except for one thing.

Even if you don't react to it, I recommend you find it and watch it, because you'll learn a couple important things about the gems and their purpose, and get a clearer view of Steven's gém.

It should answer some of your questions. The Rose lore though.. you'll have more questions than answers for a long time, but it'll all be worth it! And to answer your inclusivity question, there is a lot of good representation in the show, you'll meet an autistic character in the later seasons that's a huge fan fave. A non-binary character in Future and lots of gay all throughout~

2024-06-09 16:42:41 +0000 UTCWhen I first started seeing ads for this show, it just did not appeal to me. "So, it's about an overly positive pudgy little boy who wants to be a magical warrior lady? Okay..." Little did I know... I'd fall asleep with the TV on a lot. Usually watching [adult swim] on Cartoon Network late at night. I'd wake up around 10am or so to the morning block of animation. At the time, season 1 of Steven Universe was coming to a close, so Cartoon Network was airing marathons of the more crucial episodes. Bit by bit, I was starting to like this show. Once I saw the season 1 finalé, I was hooked. As I'm sure everyone has warned you already, season 1 is... a lot. There's loads of world building, character introductions, power explanations, etc. Etc. Etc. It's heavily episodic, but a lot of it winds up coming back. Once the main story picks up though, hoo boy! Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl are all she/her. In the early going I've always likened them to Steven's aunts. Pearl being the responsible one. Amethyst being the fun one. And Garnet being... the Garnet one. I hope you enjoy your journey! We'll be tagging along!
