She-Ra Hero Song Reaction

Comments

This cover was completely my summer bop for 2020

Diana

Thank you, I didn't know that.

Tabatha Cat

I mean, she says "hey, Adora" at the end. The writers wanted a "Catra version" of the opening song and the actress also describes it as not her singing but Catra singing + stated that it was her last recording for Catra.

Vilmu

I’m really glad you heard the song first! It’s amazing! But personally, I think you can watch the trailer if you want because it HITS. HARD. Most of us probably watched it before going into season 5 and it pumped us up so.. it depends on whether you like having a vague clue as to what's going to happen next or not.. To be fair, most of the trailer is safe but there are still some spoilers for the next season.. Regardless, can’t wait for you to react to the next season! 😃

song sl

I don't think it's Catra singing that song, but rather just the actress who plays her. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about Catra from the song.

Tabatha Cat

there are plenty of Spoilers... but without context (or visual cues) they are nothing but sounds without meaning

Omg your profile picture of Kadroh!

🎶 We’re bound to this struggle, with mighty sword and flame 🎶 I can’t believe they spoiled Catra becoming a firebender! Catra learning that she’s the long lost magicat princess and connecting to the fire runestone was the best twist of the series! (You can actually see this foreshadowed in 1x12 when Light Hope shows Adora outlines of all the princesses.) Well, at least they didn’t spoil if she becomes a Zuko or an Azula.

Jenny D

I mean, let’s be real, the day Catra gets on her knees begging for forgiveness will be the day hell freezes over.

Jenny D

Aw man, this song always reminds me of a fanfic I read where Catra is a singer (not professionally, she’s just a high school student) and the author gave her AJ’s real life guitar, which is a gorgeous, light blue (one google search later) Fender Standard Stratocaster.

Jenny D

🎶 We feel the evil coming, with shadows all around 🎶 Well, you just gotta cast them out.

Jenny D

I knew this reaction was gonna be great as soon as Mosco said, “I think the song has lyrics?” I was like, oh she doesn’t even know what song this is!

Jenny D

I personally think they should’ve used this version for the Season 5 intros. I just feel like it might fit the vibe a bit more.

Jenny D

This version sounds more like someone trying to convince themself to keep fighting and not give up when all feels hopeless, accurate for what's coming...

"War doesn't determine who is right; it determines who is left." I love that quote -- it's a very clever bit of wordplay that just happens to express a meaningful truth. Also, Re: "We're gonna win in the end", a question worth pondering at this point is who exactly "we" are. For the moment at least, it's become less than entirely clear.

Ross Jennings

This was a nice little teaser before season 5. It's definitely made me more excited to see your season 5 reactions, and the hype levels were already pretty darn high. It's a very well-written season, I'm sure you'll love it.

Ross Jennings

It's an unwritten rule that the a show has a song that slaps for its intro that it must have a cover of it in minor key to break your heart. See also, Wynonna Earp. "We're going to win in the end..." War does not determine who is right; it determines who is left. You've seen Nimona, you know what ND is capable of in the third act... ...and even so, you won't be prepared.

Ryan Porter

It took me a bit to realise it was the intro song playing ing the trailer and I didn't know it was AJ doing the song at first either 😅 gave me chills AJ absolutely nailed this song Fantastic reaction Mosco you deserve a rest and see you in the new year 😉

Catradora fan

I dunno, I think there IS story analysis to be had, just planned for the series from the beginning.

J. Jenny Jameson

🎶We must be strong!🎶 Also, you could ask thethirdbill about that depressing" We're gonna win in the end".

Sekiro

This was the soundtrack for the season 5 trailer, thus the big "trailer or just song" question. The trailer gives clues that you've made clear you prefer to NOT get ahead of time.

JHB

The regular version of the opening is indeed a half-minute edit of a two and a half minutes song, Warriors by Aaliyah Rose.

Carabas

The words are unchanged* from the original version that Aaliyah Rose recorded for season one, so it was fun to watch you attempt some kind of story analysis on them now. (*) AJ added a single chorus repeat in her version at the start. Here's the original with the words shown in the video, for karaoke or something, why not? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGh6RuXuJm8

I can’t wait for you to watch season 5 😭😭 it’s so good

Peluche

Also, I don't care how theatrically emotional an abuser's apology is. I just want to see them putting in the work to be a better person.

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

Not that I think you should watch it, but this song hits extra hard with the trailer. I'm going to rewatch it now xD

Lucas Barros

It does have hints for Season 5, not that you won’t know until you watch it to understand the lyrics Easter eggs. Plus, AJ is wonderful as a singer and as Catra. “Hey Adora” is always a classic.

Liam Gradwell

It's the same song, but obviously slowed down. The original Warriors goes in my upbeat playlist, this one is not upbeat.

Stephen Ray

That sad little "Hey, Adora" at the end always chokes me up

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

This song really sets the tone for season 5
