The virus is the Absolute Solver that is infecting them and it is a mutation caused by failing to properly dispose of droids as talked about in episode 5 VHS at the beginning but it seems that it can also be passed on to the children of the droids infected with it. Also it is implied by Alice that Nori caused the implosion of Copper 9's core.
