I am another 30+ dude who never ever thought I'd be calling a colorful cartoon about princesses one of my favorite shows ever, but She-Ra is so well constructed, written, acted and directed that I keep coming back to it. There are unfortunately rather few reactors out there who cover this show. The show is deceptively mature, and I think a lot of potential reactors are put off by the title, so its a good day when I discover a new one :)

Given how excited -- and maybe a little thirsty [wink emoji] -- you already are at the start of season one, my GOD are you in for the ride of your life. There's a reason why every season has progressively higher scores on IMDb, with season four and five episodes rated as high as 9.8 out of 10, and the show sticks the landing at the end like few I've ever seen. The whole thing is a masterclass in character-driven storytelling that bears repeated viewing. It may also be the most diverse, gayest and downright women-iest series that's ever been on TV.

I heard the same thing about the first season before I watched, and that feeling stuck with me for a few episodes, but now looking back I think I see a lot more in those first episodes that I didn't before. The MC goes through an awesome growth arc and all those "fun filler" episodes are actually vital to who she turns out to be. I'd love to see it as a Patreon exclusive and I think it would bring in a lot of us who thirst for Amphibia content. Haha

2023-04-22 19:20:08 +0000 UTCI do want to watch it at some point but I've herd from multiple reactors and fans that the first season is a slog and theres a lot of filler in there. My issue is that whatever I watch I have to spend about 8 hours with at minimum, so it's a big commitment if its something I don't like. I might do it as a Patreon exclusive, or just wait until I can go full time with Youtube becuase then theres room to maybe have a show I'm not 100% into. I'm also not someone who beats around the bush, when I don't like something I say it out loud (Mabel / Scanlan) so if I don't like the show, my entire reaction is just going to be me shitting on it, and I don't think that will do well for anyone. At least if I do it as a Patreon exclusive I only have to watch it and not spend HOURS editing it / reviewing it too. But right now with a full time job and She-Ra / Gravity Falls (+ Helluva Boss) I'm not quite ready to take the chance on it yet.

Is there a number of likes or views that we could get to on YT to convince you to give it a shot? Any chance you'd do the pilot and then see how the reception is? I mean, you sat through fucking Velma, soooooo.... I actually speedran the first couple episodes because I thought the art was weird and I wanted to get to the parts that everyone promised me was worth it... but then I had to slow down once I realized how compelling the characters were. By the time we really met Sasha, I was fucking sold. I guess I'm only hopping on the harassment train here because I know firsthand that I was like, "eh... weird" until I was like, "holy shit."

But, for some reason, I just can't seem to get enough of The Princesses of Power. It's like the show has me hooked, and I think it must be because of some psychological aspect of the series

Started watching reaction videos from Arcane, which led to Owl House, which eventually brought me to Shera. Shera is a show that if you told me ten years ago I'd be a fan of it, I'd have asked how many paint chips you ate as a kid. But I've gradually come to appreciate that just because a piece of media is wholesome doesn't mean it's dishonest or vapid (though a lot 'feel good' entertainment often is). Shows like Owl House and Shera made me realize how neglected that side of my media diet has been since Pixar started falling off. I've managed to turn at least a couple of my friends into fans of these shows, but it helps to see other people roughly around my age(ish) enjoying something that a lot of people would find weird for my demographic (Nuerodivergent 35 year old straight dude that can pass for 40). Shera pleasantly surprised me with its emotional depth and how adept it is at navigating its tone shifts.

I never outgrew that interest and have just loved the stories/characters and messages that have been presented through that media, especially over the last ~10 years in western animation. Then once I’ve watched something I’ll seek out reactors’ takes on it because it’s a new perspective that I often may not have considered – which makes me appreciate and enjoy it that much more than before. Your reactions have been sharp, insightful, and hilarious (*immediately thinks of the off-screen rants like when you figured out “Crikey!”*). It looks like everything you’re reacting to is either something I’ve enjoyed watching already or plan to watch if not, so that’s cool. Amphibia would be fun if you haven’t already watched it, being part of the pseudo-trilogy-in-spirit with GF and ToH. She-Ra should be fun though. Thanks and I’m looking forward to more. Byeee! You do this this whole thing by yourself. So this whole thing depends on 2 things, your content and you because you're the one in front of the camera. I like your style as in the way you do things. Alths ough on this channel, I thought you'd be reacting to anime but, I guess that's not what's been recommended by viewers and subs. I like what you have chosen so far - Owl House, Vox Mochina, Stranger Things (even though it was a bit much for you in the beginning).
