In today's episode of what am I doing with my life!
It's been a little while so let's see.
I more or less remade the main character. Reworked his walk animations, changed the way the lighter animation works, added the flashlight, added the long awaited sprint function. Plus a few other things.
Overall a lot more things and functionality.
Finished the intro to the game. A short(5ish mins) section introducing the character and a little background to get the story started.
Added a simple phone that'll be useful for many things.(Hints, LORE, other story relevant info, eventually scenes, etc)
Added a couple more lighting scenarios(2 daytime, 1 nighttime). I'm still debating if I want the game to have a real-time day/night cycle or static time that advances based on the players actions. For now it's the latter.
I've also been messing around with baked lighting. Very time consuming and annoying but the performance difference between baked and lumen is massive, so I'd like to add a setting to swap between them.
And lastly and what I'll be working on next. Over the past couple of months I've been tinkering with the ghost model. I like it but it doesn't feel very "ghosty", it feels more like just a blue chick. So I've been adding and changing some things to ramp up the ghostiness.
Sometimes it's hard to show what I've been up to because it doesn't look very flashy or it's not obvious. That's why I added a few before and after shots. Mostly illegible but it shows the difference.
Also for anyone unfamiliar, that's what Unreal Engine Blueprint system looks like. A bunch of boxes with wires connecting them.
I'll announce a soft release date for v0.2 next update. But it'll probably be out around April.
And with that I bid you adieu.
