MEMBERS ONLY Vlog - Looking for hay storage solutions

Hi guys! I'm trying to find long-term storage solutions for hay. I had a bit of an issue with the first round of bales, and realized I'm going to have to come up with a better way. Also, I share some of the issues I had in the garden, and give you an update on my goats and the bees!

Great advice, thanks so much!!

It’s always better to cover your hay. Build a small lean to type shed make sure at least the North and west sides are enclosed that’s where most of your weather comes from. Put old pallets on the ground as a floor so the hay won’t absorb and wetness from the ground it just depends on what type of hay you’re wanting to store. I’ve always raised alfalfa and it is finicky. For goats I wouldn’t worry much but if you ever get a horse then you have to start being picky.

I love goats so much and you are such a beautiful woman

Paul

That is so helpful, thank you!!

You don.t need to cover your hay. It's better to let the sun dry it out after a rain then trying to keep it dry from the rain. For 25 bails put some old ply wood and or boards on the ground and then stack your hay accordingly. If you ever get rich you can build a bonafide hay barn . I am 80 raised on a hay farm , sold thousands of bails of hay and never covered it....no room. You will find that the center of your stack will stay green while the outer bails show more dry....again no problem..R.

you are a total jerk let people be themselves if you dont like it go to your porn sites

Then you’ll be waiting a long time. It’s not going to happen, so if that’s all you’re here for, you will be disappointed. I do hope that you can evolve past that though, and find the deeper meaning of what I’m trying to do here.

To say I watch your videos because I'm interested in gardening is like saying I buy Playboy Magazine for the articles. Each one gets better and better. Can't wait for the day you turn and face the camera and give us the The Full Monty. Just saying what a hundred other guys are thinking.

Right now I’m getting it from a small local farm who is well known in the area for their hay, but I may have to switch to a farm/feed business that sells it once they sell out later this fall. That business is more expensive, but I heard they should have it practically throughout winter.

We had it covered with tarp and off the ground but we had three days of rain and humid weather that made it begging to get moldy. I had to throw it all out! 😭

Nice little vlog. I did enjoy the "thumbnail." Good luck with finding solutions to your problems, sorry but I can't offer any advice. But I do 100% agree with you about safeguarding your energy levels.

You may need to get hay from a reputable dealer and have it covered by professionals

Rick

the only time we have mold problems is if hay is baled to wet or green if we cover it

Rick

So good and reassuring to hear you say that! Thank you 🙏🏻 I’m def going to direct sow more next year. It’s the way to go I think! Getting those seeds directly in the ground, into the earth. 🌱

Hi. You are such a bundle of energy and drive. I fully trust that as you move forward you will be more efficient. I too do all the work on my large garden and yard so I know what you are experiencing. The only seeds I start early are tomatoes peppers and eggplant. Everything else I direct sow with great success. The seeds prosper as the sense the conditions nature supplies them and they aren’t disrupted by transplanting. Don ever get frustrated. You are such a joy to follow
