Chapter 51: Encounter
Added 2024-04-27 05:12:47 +0000 UTCIn the western part of Planet Phydia, amidst a city of ruins and broken walls, the aftermath of collapsed buildings was evident everywhere. Trees that had lined the roads were severed mid-trunk, their broken branches and leaves scattered all around, fluttering in the wind along with scraps of paper, filling the air with a pungent odor.
On a road riddled with cracks and breaks, a large group of people staggered forward. The once smooth and beautiful mechanized road was now segmented by dense, spiderweb-like fissures that occasionally sparked and burst into flames, sending fireballs soaring into the air.
Seeing their once bustling city so drastically transformed filled all the Planet Phydia people with sorrow, and a sense of injustice lingered in their chests, being the underdogs.
"Dokra, is the Planet Phydia spacecraft near here?" Xavier asked in a calm tone to the leader of the Planet Phydia people.
"Yes, my lord, it's not far now. The spacecraft, which was meant as a backup for emergencies, is docked in an underground hangar just ahead!" the leader named Dokra replied, following behind and quickly answering Xavier's question.
Due to the suddenness of the alien attack, the Planet Phydia people had not had the chance to react before disaster struck.
Thus, the ships that had been docked in spaceports and major fortresses were destroyed immediately, leaving only that one emergency backup spacecraft capable of launching.
"Hmm, pick up the pace a bit. Those aliens have energy detectors; if you're too slow, they'll detect you!" Xavier said, slightly frowning as he watched them.
"Yes, yes!"
Dokra looked startled, nodded frantically, and then started shouting to everyone to quicken their pace.
After having faced life and death, these Planet Phydia people were terrified of Frieza's underlings. Hearing that the aliens might be on their trail, they all quickened their steps as much as they could.
Not long after, Dokra led everyone to a location on the outskirts, far from the city. Unlike the ruins, this area was surrounded by greenery. The forest here was dense and orderly, with rows of trees over ten meters tall that somehow hadn't been affected by the continental fractures.
"Lord Xavier, there is an alloy structure underground here; the backup spacecraft is docked beneath this forest," Dokra pointed to the neatly arranged forest ahead.
Xavier nodded slightly, his eyes narrowing as he understood.
So, the entire forest was built on top of a massive alloy structure base, which explained why it was unaffected by the movement of the continental plates.
"You need to hurry into the base, any delay could lead to complications."
"Yes, my lord!"
All the Planet Phydia people quickly sprang into action, guided by a few of the younger, stronger individuals, they swiftly made their way toward the entrance of the base.
In no time, over ten thousand Planet Phydia people had entered the facility.
Next, they were to complete the overall adjustment and maintenance of the backup spacecraft inside the base, a significant undertaking. Fortunately, almost every one of the Planet Phydia people was a scientist, and to them, repairing equipment was as simple as drinking water.
Xavier wandered around the base for a while and also saw the spacecraft that the Planet Phydia people regarded as their last hope.
It was a colossal spacecraft, over ten kilometers long, its entire body emitting a silvery-gray gleam. The ship's bottom and sides extended with more than a dozen alloy-fabricated mechanical arms, making it look like a giant white monster from afar.
He was startled by the advanced level of Planet Phydia people's technology when he first saw it. The Planet Phydia people seemed to have a particular affinity for silvery-gray, a color scheme adopted for their planet and space corridors, and even their spacecraft.
"Planet Phydia people possess such advanced technology, yet their physical strength is so feeble; it's a miracle they haven't been conquered by other forces until now," Xavier thought to himself.
Planet Phydia is located at the junction between the eastern and southern regions of the Northern Galaxy, and because it is situated at the boundary between two regions, it had not been overtly conquered by any other force. However, in the end, Planet Phydia was still doomed to be conquered.
"It's strange, with the intelligence of the Planet Phydia people, they can't possibly be completely unalert!" Xavier shook his head, puzzled. After all, the Planet Phydia people have been developing in this universe for so many years; they couldn't possibly be unaware of the universe's darkness and be unprepared for it.
"Dokra, what is this ancient warrior that the alien mentioned?" Xavier asked Dokra directly.
Dokra appeared confused and shook his head, "I'm not very clear about that myself. It seems to be a type of super warrior that our ancestors developed in ancient times. Specific details are lost due to the passage of time!"
"Ancestors created a super warrior to protect the nation, and it almost became the root of the destruction of the Planet Phydia people. It's quite ironic," Xavier murmured softly, no longer speaking. It seemed that this ancient warrior might be something akin to a bioengineered super soldier.
Like the Saiyans, perhaps the Planet Phydia people had also forgotten the legends passed down from ancient times due to ethnic migrations.
But this was also good; at the brink of life and death, it was easier for him to subdue them.
Suddenly, Xavier's expression changed; he sensed dozens of powerful auras flying towards them. One of these auras was exceptionally cold and powerful, towering like a lofty mountain compared to the others.
It was Zarbon's Ki!
Xavier's expression grew solemn, his brow furrowed as he remarked, "I never expected Zarbon to personally lead the charge here!"
"Dokra, immediately get everyone into the spaceship and activate all of the base's defense mechanisms!" Xavier issued his commands without hesitation.
"My lord, what's happening?" Dokra could tell from Xavier's grave expression that the situation was dire, recalling the mention of the enemy's energy detectors, "Are the aliens attacking?"
Dokra's face paled at the thought.
Xavier nodded, "Zarbon is approaching with his forces, and they will be here in three minutes. Don't ask questions, just follow my orders now!"
His icy voice rang in Dokra's ears. Hearing that the enemy would arrive in just three minutes, Dokra felt a chill run down his spine.
"Yes, my lord, I will arrange it immediately," he replied, his voice trembling.
After watching Dokra hurry away, Xavier casually looked up at the sky, then used Instant Transmission to move to a location 300 kilometers away from the underground base. This spot was directly on the path leading to the base.
Xavier planned to intercept Zarbon here.
"Zarbon, let's see just how powerful Frieza's right-hand man really is!" With no fear of the formidable foe and an adrenaline rush coursing through him, Xavier felt invigorated, eager for the confrontation.
The three minutes passed quickly.
From a distance, dozens of figures flew towards him from the horizon, led by the handsome man with emerald green hair—Zarbon!
Upon spotting the young man with black hair blocking the path ahead, Zarbon waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to stop, then curiously studied his opponent.
Who exactly was this young man?
A cold, ruthless smile played on Zarbon's lips as he crossed his arms and hovered in mid-air. With many humanoid species across the universe and only minor differences between them, and because Xavier was wearing a battle suit typical of the Northern Galaxy, Zarbon couldn't immediately tell which race Xavier belonged to.
"Let's hope this young man can provide some amusement," Zarbon mused with interest, his handsome face breaking into a slight smile.
