Chapter 46: The Function of Ki
Added 2024-04-26 04:43:02 +0000 UTC"Right, there is a planet that's quite well-known, but it has recently suffered a natural disaster, and I'm not sure if there's any life left there," Adriel suddenly recalled a planet, though with some uncertainty.
"What planet?"
"It's called Phydia. It's inhabited by a humanoid tech species and is quite far from Planet Vegeta," Adriel explained. "Originally, the management was planning to send Saiyans to conquer it, but then we heard that Phydia experienced severe tectonic activity, and the mission was called off."
"Phydia..." Xavier murmured, pondering. "How advanced is their technology?"
"I'm not sure about the specifics, but it must be quite advanced. When the mission was being planned, it was classified as a high-level task. I don't think the mission management would overstate the situation."
"That makes sense!" Xavier nodded thoughtfully. Finding a technologically proficient planet in the galaxy had become challenging, and regardless of the situation there, he felt it necessary to visit and see if any life still existed.
Following that, Xavier and Adriel discussed various training issues and shared their combat experiences. After all, Adriel’s extensive battle experience was exactly what Xavier was lacking.
...
On the other side of the barren planet.
The scene was one of apocalypse again, with lightning flashing and sand swirling in the stormy skies.
Within the dense storm clouds, several crimson-purple bolts of lightning struck from sky to earth, like dragons soaring and tigers roaring, unstoppable as they pierced down from the high heavens! The tails of the crimson-purple lightning dragged blue glows behind them, abruptly bridging the gap between heaven and earth amidst the turbulent airflow.
In the storm.
Celine and Rebecca paused to catch their breaths before resuming their fierce clash. The two blurred figures made brief contact in the dense environment, so dark that not even light could penetrate. Each contact sparked an incredibly intense battle!
Brilliant light burst forth, shattering the storm, and the dazzling radiance flared up momentarily like dying stars, illuminating the surroundings.
As Xavier and Adriel arrived, a violent storm was already raging in front of them.
As the fine stones whizzed past like bullets, the ground in front of them suddenly sprouted rows of tiny, deep holes. The pebbles, due to intense friction, had transformed into flowing, scorching lava.
However, Xavier and Adriel were unfazed by the scene before them. They only waved away the thick smoke filling the air once the combat had died down.
"Ha ha ha, your fighting abilities have improved again! But, Celine, you still lack combat awareness during battle. You need to make fighting an instinctive reaction!" Adriel sharply identified his daughter’s shortcomings.
Celine's power was indeed high, but her biggest weakness was her lack of extensive combat experience, especially in life-or-death battles.
This was critically detrimental!
Normally, she could easily handle opponents weaker than herself, but when facing an adversary of equal strength, she tended to lose more often than win. And in situations where the opponent was stronger, surviving was already an achievement.
Rebecca pulled out a Senzu Bean and swallowed it, the dense energy immediately revitalizing her. She smiled and said, "Celine’s been raised too high from the start, and her usual opponents hardly challenge her. This actually hinders her ability to fully tap into her combat potential."
Xavier and Celine listened intently; this was their greatest weakness.
Their training on Earth had allowed them to unlock hidden potential within, leading to rapid increases in power. However, this also meant they lacked the grueling combat trials that test one's mettle at the brink of life and death. There are gains and losses, and now they needed to quickly compensate for these deficits.
The traditional Saiyan method of increasing strength is incredibly brutal, especially after reaching adulthood, where almost every bit of power is earned through combat. This means they are constantly facing danger, a cruel method of training that squeezes potential out of life-and-death situations.
And among the cosmos, this approach is common for most races.
The Saiyans, renowned as a warrior race, are particularly intense in this regard, providing them with ample combat experience and the courage to face life-threatening situations.
In contrast, Earth's training methods appear much more refined and subdued, more in harmony with nature.
Ki, according to Taoist beliefs, is a part of nature itself, representing the foundation of all things. It is an abstract concept that encompasses both the spiritual and physical realms, nourishing the body and unlocking potential.
These were two fundamentally different paths of training.
Xavier harbored a suspicion that in the original story, Goku's ability to consistently surpass his limits, besides the many life-and-death trials he faced, was critically augmented by his training in harnessing ki. Otherwise, why would the Saiyans of Planet Vegeta, who were ostensibly more gifted than Goku, rarely break the 100,000 power level mark?
To claim that they fought less frequently than Goku would hardly hold water.
"Uh-huh!" Celine listened intently to the teachings, nodding subtly from time to time. These past few days, sparring with her mother while suppressing her power level had been immensely beneficial.
Afterwards, Xavier led everyone in using Instant Transmission to return to their home on Planet Vegeta.
It was nearing evening by then.
Having luxuriously soaked in a hot bath, Xavier felt all his fatigue wash away. He wiped his damp hair as he walked into the living room and noticed Celine sprawled on the sofa in her casual clothes, her legs kicked up, idly lying there with a snack in her mouth.
The little girl felt nothing when she was at home, the clothing only covered the essential areas, revealing a large expanse of pale, delicate skin.
"Snap!" With a sharp slap on the butt Celine, jumped up instantly, covering her butt, then shot Xavier a fierce glare.
"What was that for?!"
"Hey, we're about to have dinner, but there's something I need to talk to you about first."
"What is it?" Celine snapped back, irked at being treated like a child with a smack on her bottom.
Xavier glanced at her, casually shifted her aside, and sat down next to her.
"We have a new mission coming up in a few days, so I’m thinking of picking one near Planet Phydia. I plan to head over to Phydia during the mission to scout it out. I’ll need you to take care of the mission details!"
"Planet Phydia?" Celine's beautiful eyebrows arched, "Are you planning on building a training facility?"
"Yeah, it's not just about the training facility. If the Phydia people prove valuable, I intend to bring them under our control," Xavier stated openly, trusting Celine completely with his plans, as there was nothing to hide from her.
If Xavier intended to establish a power base in the universe in the future, then scientists would be essential. Saiyans are a simple-minded warrior race, ill-suited for scientific endeavors. This required the expertise of specialized technologically advanced aliens.
His first target was the yet unallied people of Planet Phydia.
Celine, understanding the gravity of the situation, patted her chest and nodded confidently, "Don't worry, leave the mission to me!"
